New functions & features for further firmware updates
Posted by: CrissCross ()

Hi together,

I guess a thread regarding „New functions & features for further firmware updates“ makes absolutely sense for a consolidated place in terms of requests and wishes for OSTC 4 customers - hope you see this in the same way (-;

One request from my perspective is the „actual reached gradient factor“ during the dive – as far as I know this is also a standard feature via OSTC 2.

@Heinrichs Weikamp: Maybe it’s possible to get this feature in the upcoming firmware?

Best regards,
Chris

Duplicated, but I hope this thread will be sticky(top of thread list)

Formerly suggested/discussed thread here(including 'Current GF' showing)

Good morning together,

@tanomogi: that was the intension to have a sticky thread (-;
@Heinrichs Weikamp: is this possible?

The next feature what is on my wish list is the “descending & ascending rate” additionally in numbers like the OSTC 2 (see attachment: 2016-10-06 08_OSTC2-Asc-Descending_Rate.jpg).

Greetings from munich and have a nice day,
Chris

hello if i may suggest

in centre view
TTS for each enabled GAS

for example im diving deep air and my TTS is 60min

and i have a stage of 50% that will make my TTS 28min

i would like to see the TTS for each gas on my gas list

is thats possible ??

thanks

Hi guys from Heinrichs Weikamp,

little thread actualization - is it possible to establish this thread as a sticky one?

Cheers,
Chris

Hi,

a possibility of switching off/removing custom views would be nice.
For example - compass, tissue saturation ... just to keep it to minimum of toggling under water.

Best regards

Hi All.

Ok, I made this sticky.

Actual gradient factor, asc./desc. rates in numbers and swtiching on/off individual custom views are taken happily into consideration for the next updates. TTS for every gas would add a lot of extra calculation turns for the deco routines. Hence possible but more likely not right now as it adds considerations about processing time during the dive.

with kind regards,
Christian

Hi All!

So many ideas...I know, means a lot of coding ;-))...

OK, what about doing a custom view giving me CNS, ppO2, and absolute GF? Basically putting some of the information from the lower left corner to the middle of the screen overview style.

Just my 2 Cents ;-)

Regards,

Stephan

Hi All!

Another wish! Wouldn't it be cool, let's say e.g. in big screen mode, if the background would be white thus it could be used in emergency as a light source? Or in a kind of "torch mode"? Of course not as real back up light, but in a cave this could be life saving. Or even on the surface when lost at sea as a last resort. Just like those light apps for mobiles using the screen for a lamp.

Cheers,

Stephan

It would be cool only if configurable to be like it is now, or as you request. I love big screen mode, and it's great as it is. I guess if you dive caves, you dive with appropriate redundancy for your lights and protocol to check/charge/change batteries before ?

One more suggestion - for people who do not plan their dives the finger smiley, so not really sure about usability :
Add tank capacity for each gas on the gas list. Then, do the rock bottom (minimum gas) calculation and display result for active gas or all active gases (as a new custom view, switchable off :-) ). Gas consumption rates are either required, or some assumptions have to be made ... but you you know about being careful with making assumptions ;-)

Don't shoot me - you asked for suggestions - and I always know my MG :-)

Best regards

Suggestion: It would be great if the OSTC4 would remember the last setting of the compass. Just like a real dive-compass, it is always set to some direction. Set is set to some direction until you set it to another direction.

Peter

Hi Gorcio!

Exactly my thinking about the possibility to configure it. I rather meant a second big screen with white background, thus you are still able to read the numbers while in torch mode.

You are guessing right about my lights setup ;-) As I wrote this is not intended as a planned backup. More like a last resort. I suppose making the most out of your devices is not a bad thing :-)

Would it ( or is it ) possible for the OSTC4 to display not only the TTS, but all the remaining deco stops, time and mix to be used and updated in real time ?

There are customviews already for both in the center of the screen.

May I please request custom views to be configurable before the dive (on/off) ? I would like to switch off some views, and do not get bothered with the, underwater (but retain possibility of switching them on if really really needed)

Merry Xmas,
gorcio

Hi,

As a work-around you can disable the views in the simualtor. The settings are stored for the next real dive then.

Matthias

hi,

a few suggestions...

* easier SP change in ccr mode (with less "click", for instance like gaz suggestion in oc mode.)
* when compas is displayed, If the direction of the compas is "stable" (min/max on a 20 sec window is < 10° on each axes), ask the user if he want to set heading. - Or enable the user to change the heading without going through menu>enter>next>next>enter>next>enter....
* simulator in CCR mode seems buggy

Best regards,

a.

I support the following changes:

- a possibility of switching off/removing custom views would be nice.
For example - compass, tissue saturation ... just to keep it to minimum of toggling under water.
- It would be great if the OSTC4 would remember the last setting of the compass. OR
- when compass is displayed, If the direction of the compass is "stable" (min/max on a 10sec window is < 10° on each axes), ask the user if he want to set heading.

Additional Change Requests:
- Allow for Switching on/off the O2 Warning.
It's bloody annoying. I know at what depth I am at, when I dive with air
- Field Primary: I would like to be able to display the current time (of the day)

Christian,

Es hat Spass gemacht dich am Tech Event in Hilterfingen zu treffen.

I have an idea how we could set the compass easily.

When switching to the compass with the VIEW button, long press the View button (5 seconds or so) when the compass is visible, after the 5 seconds the heading of the compass is set and stays set permanently. If one wants to remove the setting this can be done with a new option "Remove Compass Heading" in the compass menu, or of course a new heading could be set using the above procedure...

Cheers,

Hansjoerg

Hello Hansjörg.

I would do this immediately but for long press you need push buttons.

cheers,

I tend to set the compass heading before entering the water. What about keeping the compass setting until the dive has commenced (pressure change)? And only after (lets say 1h) the dive has finished the compass heading is automatically removed.

You could make that a setting in the menu where the user can define himself after how many hours the compass heading is automatically removed.

Cheers,

I wanted to throw out an idea for an additional option for TTS for an overhead environment such as in a cave. It would be really cool if you could see what the TTS would be at the current point if you were to turn the dive then. Essentially play back the existing profile in reverse and compute what that required decompression obligation would be. Granted depending on flow, the time may not be totally accurate, but it could give a decent idea as to what the obligation might be as you continue.

I wish for one option ... TTS with the deco gas used

the current TTS now is only for the gas that is in use right now

but what about an option to display ATTS "altenitive tts"
let's say I have 80Nitrox as deco it would be great to know what is my ATTS using that 80nitrox deco

I guess it is called a dive plan (or rather - plans) ? Plan the dive, dive the plan. If you take NX80 or O2 with you - obviously you have planned shallow deco stop(s), and I guess you have already calculated your plan using that deco gas ?

All dive-computers of buddies are about 0,9 degrees centigrade lower than my OSTC4. Maybe any kind of temperature-sensor calibration in next firmware?

Hello,

any chance for the above please ? It would really make things a bit easier underwater :-)

Hello Gorcio,

You can already turn of the customviews in the dive mode menu. Ok, not all of them, but most.

Matthias

Hi All.

The current TTS is for the current gas in combination with all preprogrammed deco gas changes!
To see the TTS without gas changes you should deactivate all deco gases (Dive Menu / Gases / Lost Gas).
The same is true for the the Future TTS value. It uses the list with all active gases.

The temperature difference, I would suggest, happens because the unit is thermally almost one unit and the running unit with the working display heats up the sensor a little bit.

kind regards,
Christian
