looking for French Translations

Hi,

this one is to all fellow OSTC users that like to help us improve the French language version. Below you'll see an excerpt from the language file containing all the words for which we don't have the matching French word, or are not sure if the word we have is correct. In most cases the words have restrictions on their length (number of characters). Sometimes the max. length is explicitly stated, else the new word should be about the same length as the given one (shorter is no problem). If you have any ideas, please simply reply with pairs of the word identifier (it's the tXXXX after 'TCODE') and the French word, one pair per line.

Thanks a lot,
Ralph

- After the Beta version downloaded in French translation adjustments will may be necessary ...
- I put my text in blue and text bold the proposal which seems to me the best ...
- Ralph, it's appropriate that you find the best translation and abbreviation in the proposals below, to answer the place available on the screen, of course if you hesitate between two choices or combinations, I can help you find the best choice.

. Menu Divemode ...

TRANSLATION IN PROGRESS TO FOLLOW ... see Post below.

V3.03 FRENCH TRANSLATION FOR RALPH

Hi Ralph & Matthias,

- After the Beta version downloaded in French translation adjustments will may be necessary ...
- I put my text in blue and text bold or underlined the proposal which seems to me the best
- Ralph, it's appropriate that you find the best translation and abbreviation in the proposals below, to answer the place available on the screen, of course if you hesitate between two choices or combinations, I can help you find the best choice.
- When it appears the signs u"..."u on the Word file, it corresponds to the function underlined on the Forum HW,

- The proposals of Didier A. Defay will be noted in red on this post,

; Divemode Menu ; "Menu Plongée"
TCODE tDivemenu_Avg_Mkr, "Avg / Marker"; Réinitialiser Avg, Définir Marqueur (et Turn Dive) (10 chars)

TCODE indépendant tTrPresNone, "none"; none (big enum group follows) (9 chars)
"No Press." or "Press.Nulle"
TCODE tTrPresFirstGas, "First Gas"; (9 chars) > "Premier" or "First Gas"
It's better "Bottom Gas" or "Bottom"; "Gaz Fond"

Note: Ralph, in an old discussion with Matthias, I had reported that the appointment of "First Gas" was unclear, it's confusing for a Tek diver, "First Gas" is the name used only by hwOS to talk about the "Bottom Gas", more the name of "First Gas" is false with diving Trimix Hypoxic since we use a "Travel Gas" on the descent for the first meters and so the "First Gas" is not the first but the second gas used on bottom ...
In diving Normoxique Trimix is used first the "Bottom Gas"
In Tek Dive the naming of gases in international language that all Tek divers understand without ambiguity:
- "Travel Gas" > French > "Gaz Voyage" or "Gaz Transit"
- "Bottom Gas" > French > "Gaz Fond"
- "Deco Gas" > French > "Gaz Déco"
It's for these reasons that I ask you, if possible, to replace "First Gas" by "Bottom Gas" at least in French "Gaz Fond".
Also, it would be nice to have a letter in front of the gas when they are active as the same idea as the asterisk currently
T: Travel Gas > French > V: Gaz Voyage or T: Gaz Transit
B: Bottom Gas > French > F: Gaz Fond
D: Deco Gas > French > D: Gaz Déco
-: Disabled Gas > French > -: Gaz Inactif
This will allow a quick and sure control of the gas programming,
The names of the gases in English (Travel, Bottom, Deco) can be possibly preserved in French because understand by Tek french divers

TCODE tTrPresActiveGas, "active Gas"; (9 chars) > "gaz actif" ;
TCODE tTrPresFirstDil, "First Dil"; (9 chars) > "Premier D" or "First Dil" or "1er Dil."
