Re: Sat/desat factors versus GF factors
Hi Raph,
This is exactly what I expected to hear to confirm my understanding.
Thanks for your explanations.
It is all clear now.
Best Regards,
Yves

Re: Sat/desat factors versus GF factors
Thanks for your response. Precisely, I have the english and french versions of this document, and my question derives from my understanding of this document. Probably, my question was not clear enough. In short, I wanted to know how sat/desat factors interact with the gradient factors when both are ...

Sat/desat factors versus GF factors
Hi, I am trying to figure out how the saturation/desaturation factors stand against the gradient factors. It looks clear to me that the gradient factors (GF) are simply a shift of the M-Values to bring more accurate stringency to the decompression calculations. However, although I understand that th...

Hi ralph, Main menu->Settings, (then after Simulator)->Display settings->in following screen, second parameter between Speed graph and Display PpO2: Variable speed (default=no): Here is my OSTC screen display (in french): 20201002_var_speed.jpg French "Préfér. Réglages" = Display Settings ...

Re: Gradient Factors
Thanks Ralph, Although I understand your explanations, I have a couple of remarks: "Variable Speed" is no longer in the current hwOS firmware. I have the latest firmware v3.12 for the OSTC+ Tech that I downloaded recently, and I still have this Variable Speed parameter available for select...

Re: Gradient Factors
Hi, I read in page 9 of your referred document: ...you never come shallower than the indicated ceiling depth and never ascend faster than 10 meters per minute (this is anchored in the model) How about if you choose "Variable speed" instead of 10m/min in your deco parameters? I tried my sim...

Re: Battery completely empty
Hi, I had the same problem. I believe it is adviseable to have a separate lithium battery charger, and a battery tester. This is cheap. Once you charged the battery, you can check its load, and replace it in your OSTC. Then, place it again on your round shaped charger to synchronize your recharged b...

Re: OSTC+ Tech simulations
Hi Ralph, Thanks a lot for your detailed explanations. I am getting closer to the heart of the OSTC :) Yes, it is much clearer. If you permit me, I still have some comments for your appreciation: You: It is correct that the OSTC still shows NDL for a short time even if the ceiling already started to...

Re: Gradient Factors
Thanks Matthias for this riveting didactic document. However, I have still a question. In the OSTC "tissue chart" display you show on page 9, Figure 12, I see 2 sets of horizontal bars, apparently each for 16 tissues. What is the meaning of these 2 tissue bars? I noticed on my OSTC+ tech f...

Re: OSTC+ Tech simulations
Thanks Ralph, I agree. However, I received the new OSTC-GF-calculations document from Matthias, and, instead of determining the time without decostop as soon as the NDL=0 turns to decostop=3m, 1', I checked the Ceiling, and I used the simulator with the following parameters: GF=30/85, depth=30m. I r...

Das Problem der wiederaufladbaren Batterien ist sehr heikel. Sie müssen wirklich aufpassen, um aufzuladen, sobald die 30% -Ladung erreicht ist (sinkt).
Prost

Re: OSTC+ Tech simulations
Hi Ralph, Indeed, no problems to share my simulations. Actually, I wanted to gauge the dive duration at the definite depth before a deco stop is displayed. My reference was the MN90 deco table of the french navy. The selected depths at stake were : 9m, 12m, 15m, 20m, 25m, 30m, 40m, 45m, 50m. Since n...

Gradient Factors
Hi, I assume that all computers using the ZH-L16+GF model from Erik Baker are the same. Should my buddy be using a non-OSTC computer (eg Shearwater), and configure the GF parameters with the same configuration as my OSTC, can I take for granted than the deco will be the same (same deco stops and sam...

Re: OSTC+ Tech simulations
Hi,
thanks a lot for your reply.
Actually, I discovered afterwards that there was a new FW Release that solved the problem.
I downloaded that new Release, and ran again my simulations. Now, it looks OK.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Now this discussion is over.

OSTC+ Tech simulations
Hi, I have an OSTC+ Tech with SW Release 3.11. I wanted to get familiar with my new dive computer through simulations. Then, I configured the deco model to ZH-L16 with different sat/desat factors 100/100 (default), 95/105, 90/110, 85/115, and for each of them I started the simulator at a series of d...
