Re: Hw OS TECH Version 3.07 wunschliste

Hello everyone, I'm an English speaking owner of one of these fine dive computers. I was taught German at school but that was more than 50 years ago and consequently most of what I was taught never stuck and what did stick barely enables me to hold anything but the simplest conversation with a nativ...

Re: OSTC2 Stuck in Dive Mode

Something similar happened to me with a previous version of the firmware. Only for me it was while I was doing my 5m safety stop. Fortunately I had a backup computer to see me safely to the end of the dive. The advice I was given was to let the battery run down (I also have an OSTC2 with non-replace...

Hi Ralph,

I usually don't wish bad weather on anyone... However I hope it's bad weather this weekend where you are :)-D

Re: hwOS Tech: 3.01 released

Hi Ralph, Adding a +100 option would improve matters considerably. However I feel a revision as I suggested would be a better choice if you were to be revising the module which contains this code. At least one code example similar to my suggestion exists in the software for the OSTC2N if I remember ...

Re: hwOS Tech: 3.01 released

Hi all, I've just updated my OSTC2 to firmware 3.01. I went into the logbook section of the DC and to my dismay I found that the dive number has been reset to 1. Having logged over 2000 dives I now have the laborious task of pressing the right button well over 200 times to restore the number shown t...

Re: Screen freeze during dive

Thanks for the information Ralph, I guessed as much. Once the unit fully discharges and shuts down I will install V2.98. I'm currently enjoying some diving in the Maldives so this is a little frustrating. I, fortunately, have a backup computer which I am now having to rely on. Before this dive the u...

Screen freeze during dive

I am running firmware version 2.97 on my OSTC2 #11454 and during my safety stop the screen froze with just over one minute to go. Fortunately I had a backup computer which I used to complete my dive. Has anyone experienced this event before and if so what is the best course of action I can follow to...

Re: Temperature

Due to the construction of the dive computer and the fact that the temperature sensor is inside the casing of the unit there is an inevitable lag in the temperature reading. Without performing an experiment to measure the time it takes to reach equilibrium it is impossible to give a precise value fo...

Re: MAC Software

Subsurface supports all OSTC models (and probably all other dive computers thanks to 'libdivecomputer'). There are ports for Windows, macOS, and many flavours of linux. Check out their website for more details.

Re: MAC Software

Try using Subsurface, an excellent and free dive logbook application. Not only can you download your dives to your computer or smart phone (I believe but cannot confirm), but you can also use Subsurface to configure your OSTC and upgrade its firmware.

Happy diving,
Laurie (OSTC2 #11454)

Re: New 3.13 Firmware

At midnight each day the software will decrement the clock by up to 120 seconds or increment it by 120 seconds. Unfortunately there is a bug in the code which causes any attempt to increment by more than 59 seconds to decrement the clock. So the practical range is -120 seconds (2:00 mins) to +59 sec...

Rob, do you have an English language version of your website? I was taught German over 50 years ago and most of what I learnt is so covered in cobwebs it is irretrievable.

Re: Battery voltage with 3.13 FW

The battery voltage at the end of a dive can be seen if you go into the Logbook. Select a dive and display the profile by pressing the right button. Then press the left button once. As well as the gas mixes the battery voltage is shown in the the section above the dive profile.

Re: New 3.13 Firmware

The only change to Custom Function that I can see is in the implementation of CF31. Before V3.12 it showed battery voltage. At V3.12 and after it shows battery percentage (%). This represents the percentage of "on" time based on the setting of CF74.

Re: I suggest moving the Exit-prompt

Why not just arrange for the cursor to be positioned on the 'Exit' row whenever you exit from a sub-menu or function? I'm sure this would be easier to program than rearranging every menu.

Re: Time adjustment using CF48

Thanks for the advice Matthias. I have to say that my old 2N was more accurate than my newer 2C - but the 2C loses less than 1 second per week. When I'm diving I keep a close eye on the OSTC2C's timekeeping and use CF48 to adjust by just one second occasionally. As I haven't dived since April I thou...

Time adjustment using CF48

Having not dived for a while I thought I should switch on my OSTC2C to check the battery voltage. The battery was fine but I found that the clock was over 20 minutes slow. Rather than going through the time setting procedure I decided to use CF48 to slowly adjust the time forward until the correct t...

Re: Nitrox and Trimix mixes

It would seem Matthias and his software team have already thought of this. Referring to the OSTC2 Owner's Manual, page 18, column 3, it states: If the sum of oxygen and helium fractions is less than 21% the gas list shows ERR indicating an unusual gas mix. Unfortunately a bug must have crept into th...

The question is: Do you think the OSTC2 should validate for this or should it be left up to the diver to ensure he hasn't made a mistake?
