Re: FW version reported incorrectly in Subsurface
I wasn't sure if Subsurface was showing it incorrectly or whether the OSTC was outputting the wrong info. In fact I'm still not sure about that now, any way I can check? Can I perform a raw dump and examine that?

Check your dates too. Mine has reset to 2000. This might have been caused by a bad 'sync time with PC' though.

I upgraded my OSTC Mk2 firmware yesterday with Yotemite so it it working and perfectly stable. I've been using it since Mavericks and it's been rock solid.

Re: Nitrox and Trimix mixes
Ok, I see what you are saying now.
So how about limiting the amount of N2 allowed in any given mix to 79% (as well as ensuring that the combined gas percentages comes to a maximum of 100%)? This would allow the weakest nitrox mix (air) as well as any trimix that I can think of.

Re: Nitrox and Trimix mixes
I guess validation should be completed to create a sum of 100%. I can't really see when this wouldn't be the case.

That might be the new functionality introduced in firmware 3.00.
CF74: Battery timeout BETA
Battery symbol or battery voltage will blink if the OSTC was longer in active mode then this value. A full recharge resets the timeout.
Default value: 1800 min (30 hours)
Suggested range: 0...32767 min

Wouldn't be much good as a dive computer if it was't compatible with sand

Re: What about lost gas?
Seco is calculated with programmed deco gasses as long as their change depth is set to > 0. If set to 0 then you can switch to them (And deco will be recalculated to reflect this) but the original deco shown is using the original gas you were on. I'm currently torn between which i like more. I kond ...

What kind of dive profile gives you excessive deco? I run 30/85 on an OSTC mk2 and an happy with the deco that's planned.

Sorry, I thought you were saying the OSTC was showing shorter deco, not less NDL remaining.
They were both set to the same gas weren't they?

Re: conservatism settings comared to other products
Because the gradient factors were set different. If they were the same then NDL and deco obligation would have likely been similar.
This is exactly what gradient factors do. They fine tune the ZH-L16 algorithm

You are able to manually switch to this gas and deco will be recalculated to reflect this. It is currently not being taken into account with deco calculations.

I don't think so. My OSTC seems to acree with my Zoop as to the length of the dive.
Profile shows ascent and then dive over rather than ascent nd then 2mins at 0m depth.

Re: Which version of OSTC 2 is the newest?
I think functionally they work all the same. It's just small physical differences in the device. Some people like the idea of being able to replace the battery on the mk2 where as some see it as an extra failure point. Likewise the TFT screen is easier to read in bright conditions (So i've heard) bu...

Different generations of the same computer. the mk2 is the oldest and the 2c is the newest. mk2 - oLED screen, user replacable rechargable battery, USB port on the side (Push in), Old style housing which had a strap by defaut (You had to buy an aftermarket case for bungee mount). 2n - oLED screen, e...
