Re: Nitrox and Trimix mixes

The problem arises when you try to dive with nitrogen making up more than 79% of the gas mix. The purpose of nitrox and trimix mixes is to reduce the nitrogen in the mix not allow it increase.

Nitrox and Trimix mixes

I'm not a trimix qualified diver but have been diving for many years and 15 of those with nitrox and Draeger Dolphin SCR. I have been examining the setup menus and acceptable ranges for settings in the OSTC2 and encountered this, I consider, an anomaly. The question I have is this: Is it reasonable ...

Re: Battery icon flashing

You have to leave it on charge for a long time. The battery symbol will be flashing even when the battery symbol shows it is full, but the battery shows full once the battery is 95% full. Eventually it will stop flashing and the on-time counter will reset to zero. The battery symbol will continue to...

Re: Delete one log

As far as I know there is no way to merge dives on the OSTC2. Once you have downloaded your dives to your favourite dive logging software on your PC you'll probably have the opportunity to merge two dives with a very short surface interval between them. I know that Subsurface performs this task with...

Re: OSTC2 Custom Functions documentation

As requested, attached is my version of the OSTC2 custom functions documentation in ODS format. I have updated it for firmware version 2.94 changes.

If you have any suggestions for enhancement or better descriptions of the meanings/use of any CF please post here.

Re: New 2.94beta available

Nice idea! My guess is that this interval is probably good as a reminder to upload your dive data to you PC or whatever too, before you start overwriting dives. Clearly the value of CF74 needs to be tuned to your type of diving and how bright you maintain the display. I suppose that Matthias could a...

Re: Salinity settings

As jbcool said the salinity setting is just cosmetic since OSTC uses absolute pressure to calculate tissue saturation. However, when I've compared the depth shown on my OSTC with the depth on my buddy's computer it appears that most assume a salinity of 1.02kg/l for computers that do not provide the...

Re: feature request

Have you checked out Subsurface? It has an excellent interface to the DC and is compatible with almost all DCs out there. Once the dives have been downloaded to the PC, Subsurface will show colour coded ascent and descent rates in the dive profile. Also when the mouse hovers over any part of the dep...

Re: Surface Interval start...

I remember the "Safety Stop" correspondence and the heated discussion contained therein. Initially I was against it's implementation as at the time we only had 64 CFs to play with. Subsequently Matthias has added an additional 32 CFs and the safety stop functionality has been added using 5...

Re: Surface Interval start...

I've read the above correspondence and am amazed at the resistance to correcting an obvious inconsistency in what is otherwise and excellent dive computer algorithm. I'm still in agreement with 'cheeseandjamsandwich'. The surface interval should reflect the value of CF02 plus the surface time follow...

Re: Surface Interval start...

If this suggestion were implemented it would bring it in line with most, if not all, dive computers in common use. When I'm on a dive trip and I'm about to do a second dive and I'm asked for my surface interval I have to add the surface delay setting, CF02, to the displayed surface interval on the s...

Hi Blennie, The Subsurface dive logging software is excellent and they provide and Open Source 'dmg' for the Mac. The current live version is 3.1.1. If you Google for Subsurface I'm sure you'll find it. As for the fdtichip stuff I'm not sure you'll need it or not with Subsurface as I tried several o...

Hi,

After much procrastination I have produced an A5 format PDF for the Custom Functions for firmware version 2.70 in English. If you print it out you'll be able to add your own 'current' settings for each CF. The text and values are as displayed by my OSTC 2N.

Re: really minor bug?

I've just returned from a dive trip where I was diving on Nitrox 32 to max 30 m and did 50 dives, mostly 2 dives per day but on two days I did 3 dives. I found that my desat time after diving averaged at about 40 hours following the second dive but peaked at 47hrs 55min following a third dive. These...

Re: Safety Stop/Sicherheits Stop

In my opinion the dive computers 'for the masses' include safety stops because many of the users are insufficiently aware of the effects of pressure on the absorbtion of gases in the body during diving. For that reason these dive computers insist on a safety stop to ensure their users don't get bent...
