When 10.60 came about i didn't like the layout and with some of the software problems encountered, I chose to revert back to 10.53, which I had got used to and understood etc.
As there is now a 10.63 version and with only a few dive likely throughout the winter months,I'll have time to get used to and understand any changes but is everyone out there OK with this new version and the changes that have been made??
I did and will express my concerns that the 'upgrades' to the Sport were a little over the top for what is a recreational divers computer and that if ALL of the features available were being used, has the diver actually got the right computer??
Never forget the acronym KISS.....Keep It Simple, Stupid.
If it helps, I'm a BSAC Dive Leader and Assistant Instructor with just shy of 500 dives in many varied enviroments and conditions that the UK has to offer as well as plenty of warm water dives.
What are the thoughts of you recreational divers out there????

It took me a couple of hours to get my OSTC Sport connected, due to the seemingly 'normal' connection issues, but the upgrade to 10.63 appeared to go ok. However, the data for Dive Log Offset, gas list and device name etc have all been lost. I still can't set the device name because I can no longer get my Sport connected - now I am getting an error message from OSTC Companion saying that my device is not an OSTC Sport.
Any help here would be appreciated.

Re the question posed by Finewine on complexity, I think dive computers are becoming generally more complex and the Sport is bridging the gap between recreational and technical. Generally, many divers do not spend enough time getting to know what their computer is telling them and then understand what they should be doing with that information. As a DM with 500+ dives I would like to see greater emphasis on understanding dive computers included in early diver training.

Choose "OSTC 3+" in the Companion. We have a new companion coming which only distinguishes between USB and Bluetooth OSTC.

The new hwOS sport code is now 100% based on the TECH code and so the units are identical to the external software. That allows software providers an easier integration of the units since they no longer have to make special code for the hwOS sport or tech version. A side-effect is, that the hwOS sport now got a lot of features which were in the hwOS tech before. Like 5 gases and aGF.

Matthias
