Feature Request: Setpoint chang at certaindepths

Post by dmainou »

Hi guys,

Wonder if it would be possible to add a the functionallity to automatically change the setpoint from a low one to a high one and back at certain depths?

For example, if:

* Setpoint 1 is 0.7
* Setpoint 2 is 1.3
* Setpoint 3 is 1.0

be able to start the dive on Setpoint one and then automatically have this changed to setpoint 2 (1.3) at a certain depth, say 21m. Then remain on setpoint 2 until a depth shallower than say 3m is reached. At this point then it goes back to setpoint one (0.7).

This is the behaviour exhibited by my setpoint controller (S#ear W pred) and it would be nice to be able to a) minimise my task loading and b) have a better representation of the actual setpoint on my off line computer if I forget to manually do the change..

Thanks.

Great idea. I too use my OSTC as a backup to my breather. In fact it's easier to read for deco as doesn't have the cell readings as the main display. The OSTC would be great if this function was added as the varying set point I common with most controllers and it'll allow the OSTC to be far closer matched on deco.

I had a play with a Shearwater Petrel today and it did this, at a quick glance though it only appears to automatically switch between a high and a low setpoint.

I have to say that I just leave my OSTC on 1.3 and don't see a big difference. Obviously its not doing setpoint control and I'm just using it mostly as a secondary bailout computer so have it on Buhlmann fixed setpoint algorithm without the GFs so I can get shallow fast so I'm not quite trying to match my primary computer. Still I'd use the feature if it was there but its a nice to have rather than essential in my mind.

Just wondering if this was planned in any of the updates?

I asked this very question a few weeks back and got told that it is not planned to implement this feature in the short term. You will see my thread further down the page.
I mentioned that another computer had this feature and got helpfully told to go out and buy one of those instead!!

Hi,

There's always some harsh tones in internet forums - don't take it personal. As said: There's currently no development in this direction. You may have noticed that the OSTC has little automatisms in dive mode. That's intent.

Cheers,
Matthias
