Translation help needed

Post by heinrichsweikamp »

Hi,

Attached are the four language files for the OSTC3 (English, Deutsch, Français and Italiano). It would be nice if native speakers (and divers!) can have a look into these if all is translated correctly and using abbreviations common for diving.

Please post corrections or errors here in this thread. The four files are text-only files that can be opened with any text editor. The translation is between the " " and the English original is behind the ";".

Thanks in advance,
Matthias

I just gave a shot at the french translation : I've put the changes in bold for a better view especially when it's a spelling error.

TCODE tDivemenu_Gaslist, "liste gaz" ; Gaslist or "liste des gaz"
TCODE tResetMenu, "Menu Remise à Zéro" ; Reset Menu or if you are limited character wise "Menu RàZ" + it is consistent with the same menu used elsewhere.
TCODE tDiluentSetup,"Config. Diluant" ; Diluent Setup
TCODE tGaslist, "Liste gaz OC"
TCODE tGasDisabled,"Désactivé" ; Disabled
TCODE tGasDeco, "Déco" ; Deco
TCODE tDilDisabled,"Désactivé" ; Disabled
TCODE tDvGauge, "Profondimètre" or "Profondi."
TCODE tDecoparameters, "Param. Déco"
TCODE tDesaturationMult, "Désaturation:"
TCODE tMedium, "Moyenne"
TCODE tColorSetName0, "Standard" ; Standard I'm not sure about that one because I'm not sure when it is used

The next OSTC3 firmware will have a new menu where the user can select different color schemes for the screen. "Standard" is the default color scheme.

We actually have room to replace the following short strings with something better:
TCODE tCCRSetup,"Config. CCR"; CCR Setup
TCODE tGasSetup,"Config.gaz OC"; OC Gas Setup
TCODE tGasEdit,"Préf. Gaz"; Edit Gas
TCODE tDispSets,"Préf. Affich."; Display Settings
TCODE tGasDepth,"Prof. changmt"; Change Depth
TCODE tSetup_mix,"Confi. Mix"; Setup mix
TCODE tNewBattNew36,"Réinit. 3,6V"; New 3,6V
TCODE tNewBattNew15,"Réinit. 1,5V"; New 1,5V

Matthias

I have checked out the English laguage file and have the following comments:

line 202: the word Descend should be Descent

line 258: the word sucessful is spelt successful

line 284: in British English the word color should be spelt colour
Happy diving,
Laurie (OSTC2 #11454)

That's what the menu and the screens will look like. There may be changes to the actual color schemes, of course.

I get it now. You can use "Par Défaut"

"Paramètres CCR" if the menu leads to set points etc.

"Configuration Gaz OC"

if it's the menu where you configure your gases then you could use "Edition des Gaz" although I'm not very happy with it.

> TCODE tDispSets,"Préf. Affich."; Display Settings
"Paramètres Affichage"

> TCODE tGasDepth,"Prof. changmt"; Change Depth
Could be left as it is

> TCODE tSetup_mix,"Confi. Mix"; Setup mix
Could you give me an example of when this is used. This menu doesn't seem to exist on my OSTC 2

Thanks again. I had to shorten "Paramètres Affichage" to "Param. Affichage" but I think that's ok.

Hallo Matthias,

TCODE tDivemenu_ToggleGF, "GF umschalten" ; Toggle GF

TCODE tResetMenu, "Menü zurücksetzen" ; Reset Menu

TCODE tGF_low, "GF niedrig:"
TCODE tGF_high, "GF hoch:"
oder

TCODE tGF_low, "GF unten:"
TCODE tGF_high, "GF oben:"

gleiches dann auch für
TCODE taGF_low, "aGF low:" ; aGF low
TCODE taGF_high, "aGF high:" ; aGF high

TCODE tDvSalinity,"Salzgehalt:" ; Salinity

TCODE tSelectAir, "Luft" ; Air

TCODE tGFactors, "GF Werte" ; GF Values
TCODE taGFactors, "aGF Werte" ; aGF Values

TCODE tLogOffset, "Logbuch ausgleichen" ; Logbook Offset
oder
TCODE tLogOffset, "Logbuch verschieben" ; Logbook Offset

irgendwie keinen Sinn machen. So z.B. auch dieser Vorschlag:

>...
> TCODE tLogOffset, "Logbuch ausgleichen" ; Logbook Offset
> oder
> TCODE tLogOffset, "Logbuch verschieben" ; Logbook Offset

okay okay ... :-)

Übernehmt was euch gefällt oder vergesst meinen Beitrag :-)

Ich kann mit beidem leben!

"Gut LUFT" oder ne Mixtur draus!

Hallo Tobias,

Matthias
