OSTC3 - Improvement screen display text

Post by ClaudeDive »

Hi Matthias,
- I propose in attached file an improvement for text and translation on OSTC3 screens display for next upgrade

- these improvements can certainly apply to the OSTC2

- I have write French text, HW or other users will be able to make in the same way for other languages, but would be already well to upgrade French text

Objectives are the following:

- A better precision for terms used and translation,

- Each screen display have single title, it doesn't have there 2 screens with the same title what is currently the case,
that will facilitate the exchanges and the discussions on different screens display

- Abbreviations more precise while using best possibilities of screen display with:
. Screen titles have 18 characters maximum > eg like currently for: Nouvelle Batterie?
. Subtitle or other text have 20 characters maximum per ligne > eg like currently for: Calibration Boussole

Regards
Good festivals of end of the year!
Cheers ;)

Well, I'm not a native French speaker but I have added (most) of your proposals into the attached firmware. (Install with the OSTC Companion).

If you think this is ok I'll add these changes to the next version.

Matthias

Hi Matthias,
Thanks for your update, no problem for a French Trimix Instructor.

I checked your modifications and you will find in V.1.03 the attached file the French text in yellow which remains to be updated.

You can also see the English text in blue which could be updated to be in perfect correspondence.

Easy for you the German text and it remain the italian Text.

In this way, each screen will have a single title and there will not be two screens with the same title, which will facilitate the exchanges and the discussions on the various screens.

If you want I will check your next update of the French text.

Regards

Cheers ;)

Hi,

Attached is the French language file. It's a simple text file you can edit right away. Use a text editor to edit (No MS-Word or similar). I think it's faster if you enter the text proposals here directly.

As for you English proposals, I'll have a look. There's no "Informations", it's "Information" even in the plural form.

Matthias

Hi Matthias,
you can see your attached file with my proposal for an update in yellow for French and in gray English,

I had to add 3 lines to not have two screen with the same title,

the update will be perfect if we select a sub-menu and that we have the same title on the following screen what is not always the case currently,

If you want, I will check your next update of the French version.

Regards,

Cheers ;)

Hi Claude,

I need this file in a text format. Your (MS-Word ;) ) saved file completely ruined the formatting and can not be compiled.

Thanks. Please don't messup the tabs and spaces in these include files. And don't add extra lines (The order of the texts is critical and mus be in sync with the other languages).

Attached is the version with this text include file.

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Thank you for the updates,

As you cannot add new lines, I removed these lines, but there is a problem for 2 French titles who are common for the gases OC and CCR,

In gas menu, I modified in yellow these 2 titles in attached file .txt and .pdf.

Hi Matthias,

As I told you in my 1st attached file of this topic, I think that it isn't good to mix the translations French and English.

ex: "PMU"/"END", "PMU" it's French and "END"" it's English,

It's necessary to choose, we translate all into French eg:"PMU"/"PEN"" or we keep abbreviations English eg: "MOD"/"END"" understood by French Tec Divers that we find in all the litterature of diving and they are international technical terms for the diving,

The French divers doesn't dive only between them, but they dive also abroad where everybody use the English abbreviations.

I give you the French translation to be clear for you,

"PMU" > Profondeur Maximun d'Utilisation = "MOD" > Maximum Operating Depth.

"PEN" > Profondeur Equivalent Narcose = "END" > Equivalent Narcose Depth.

"PEA" > Profondeur Equivalent Air = "EAD" > Equivalent Air Depth.

A point poses a problem to me and I don't understand, I give you a attached file "V-Planner" to justify the problem, In My eg I take Tx25/35 (gas first) to 54m.

- On "Gas Menu" we have on différent screen "Gas setup".

OSTC3 Display > "MOD":54m=ok /"END":31m=Wrong, For me it's "END":22m or "EAD":31m. > see attached file "V-Planner"

Tx25/35 to -54m: pN2=2.56 bar et Air to 22.4m : pN2=2.56 bar Therefore Tx25/35: "END":22m and not like displayed on OSTC3 "END":31m

- On Simulator with Tx25/35 to 54m:

OSTC3 Display > "EAD":23m=Wrong, For me it's "END":23m > see above and attached file "V-Planner".
OSTC3 Display > "END":32m=Wrong, For me it's "EAD":32m.

Matthias what do you think about,

Regards,

Cheers ;)
