Hi, I have recently bought a second hand ostc 2n, and have a quick question regards the altimeter function. the previous owner had this turned on but i am unsure as to its function and also it is showing 86m, is this m above sea level? if so can this be recalibrated as its far too high as i am by coast at present ?
regards
john

Re: ALTIMETER
actually, think i have it sorted, my local sea level mb is about 1002mb today and it was set as 1013 for reference, but as above is this a function i should turn off?

Re: ALTIMETER
It's a barometric altitude sensor. It needs to be calibrated to your weather conditions from time to time. Don't expect too much accuracy from it, the sensor is intend for underwater use and does not provide enough resolution for a real altitude sensor.
The altitude display has no influence on any diving-related function.

I recently bought a second hand unit too. I think it would be wise to perform a full reset to get this back to standard settings before you proceed as you won't be sure of any other settings the user has changed and these could be significant.

Good point. And upgrade to the latest available stable.

Re: ALTIMETER
So if you do some altitude diving at about 1500m the computer doesnt count for this?

Re: ALTIMETER
The OSTC always computes the decompression schedule based on the surface pressure. In 1500m you'll have less pressure compared to sea level, so you'll get more deco

Re: ALTIMETER
ALTIMETER is just a display function : it shows pressure in meters according to pressure at sea level
ALTIMETER has no incidence on decompression
