OSTC3: Compass offset

Post by DennisA »

Feature suggestion:

When using the compass in the OSTC3 computer, the reading is the direction of the dive computer. However, I don't have my forearm orthogonal to my heading when diving, probably I have it offset about 60 degrees.

I think it would be nice to be able to input a compass offset, preferably combined with a visual index line indicating the direction of the reading on the screen.

Best regards

We have considered a graphic compass, this may be added in the future :)

Looking good, however I would prefer a more simple design, consisting merely of an arrow pointing north.

The design you have attached, Mathias, does not solve the offset..

That's only a test, not a design you'll see in the release.

Hi everyone,

The OSTC3 is a technical computer of diving,

Why complicate a simple function as the compass which currently fulfilled its role which is to indicate a direction simply,

To my point of view OSTC3 isn't an instrument of navigation and will never replace a compass.

It appears more important to me to use the memory for functions of calculation and informations of decompression,

Hi everybody,

Heinrichsweikamp Say :

" Our OSTC 3 is the perfect fit for recreational
divers with an interest in technically
challenging dives. "

I just buy a OSTC3, also I am a recreational diver.

If can improve the compass then do it.

I agree with dnaandy for a classical graphic compass implementation.
I would also find it useful to have the posibility to lock a bearing.(tu)

Bad experience yesterday when divin for the first time with my OSTC3: it generates quite a strong magnetic field around it, so that it completely offsets my classical compass. The OSTC3 and the compass need to be around >12cm appart for the needle not to be offset (td)

Cheers

Maybe a "Declination" setting is useful for this purpose.
