Verbindungsprobleme OSTC 2 / Mac OSX

Post by timbrade »

Hallo zusammen,

Tim

I might not have understood everything because my german is not that good, but I'm having the same connectivity problem and I haven't found a solution yet.

Hi,

sorry for the german post...

I already installed and re-installed the FTDI Driver. My Mac is using the latest (10.10.3) Version.

I can't see the OSTC in the Systeminformation window, the OSTC Planer or Subsurce. The OSTC Planer show a port "cu.usbserial-DAWM75IX" but it doesn't work. In Subsurface is no Port available...just a couple of Bluetooth Ports.

I think it's a Driver Problem - the OSTC works on the same Mac 4 weeks bevor. I'm not sure but i think i didn't change something on my Mac in this time. Eh..and i tried it on my MacBook Air too..same effect

Ok... something else: do you have any other devices pluged-in on the usb-port? or are you using an USB-hub? I have to connect my OSTC directly to the Macs USB, i doesn't work on my USB-Hub...

The other port is free and no usb-hub. The USB port is working with other devices.

Here the port is called /dev/tty.usbserial-A4SHCQSJ, for example.

You can find some trouble shooting info here: http://pbxbook.com/other/mac-tty.html

Noch ein Tipp: Der OSTC muss eingeschaltet und im Oberflächenmodus sein damit Kommunikation möglich ist.

Plugging the OSTC to the back of my iMac (and not the USB port on the keyboard) made a difference.

First try it did recognize the OSTC but failed to download the dives Error -7. Second try onwards it crashed the iMAC every time... :(

Hey,

i solve the Problem...

First i tried it on the Windows PC from my Girlfriend. I installed the FTDI Driver an the OSTC Bootloader but again no function. After that i changed the USB Cable again...an it works. so i made the Software Update to 3.02 on the Windows Machine.

After that the OSTC works also on my Mac. I think it was a mix from Driver and Cable issues. The Name of my Port in Subsurface is: /dev/tty.usbserial-DAWM75IX

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback - The OSTC will not connect on a passive USB HUB (And that's what a MAC Keyboard is) because it tries to enumerate too much power from the USB bus (Which is declined from proper USB hubs then).

"DAWM75IX" is the FTDI chips serial number, every OSTC has a different here.

The 2C must be in surface mode in order to communicate with the bootloader.

Finally got my mac to connect to OSTC planner and Subsurface. Had to use the D2xxHelper_v2.0.0 (1).pkg to get it sorted.

Warning, as soon as i tried to update the firmware OSTC planner stop communicating with the mac (as well as failing the upgarde) but Sub surface is working fine.

I have a OSTC Mk.2 on V1.7

Hi,

1.7.... That's quite old and not easy to update on a MAC (Only possible with jdivelog). I'd recommend that we update the unit at our place to the latest 3.13.

Please email us directly: info@heinrichsweikamp.com
