OSTC 2 cannot connect in Win10 to upgrade firmware?!?
ISSUE IS WITH UPGRADE OF FIRMWARE OF OSTC 2!
This is a followup from the previous subject as it was closed by admins to continue:
read.php?2,17780
Ok, so we are trying to upgrade to the latest firmware and when connected to the computer, the upgrade button is DISABLED:
https://ibb.co/kg73wQ
https://ibb.co/dfHaAk
If we try this in BootLoader v2 it cannot connect to it:
https://ibb.co/fQPSO5
In both programs connecting to the ONLY other option and that is COM 4...both applications hang and CRASH.
Please help as we are desperate, the computer must be upgraded to new firwmare (it went all white with your notification of it), and we cannot do it.
Thank you!

Are you trying to upgrade the firmware by bluetooth? Why don't you use a USB-Connector?

hi,
What kind of OSTC2 are you using? A one with Bluetooth or with USB?

Matthias

Yes, but we've tried this as described above and it's NOT working.
What will we do?

Hi,
Most likely you're pressing on "Connect" and then the update is not possible. Use the button "Update firmware" without prior "connecting" and you should be able to do so.

Matthias

Re: OSTC 2 cannot connect in Win10 to upgrade firmware?!?
Hello,
I got the same problem since I have upgraded to Windows 10 1703 (Creator Update), before it worked with Windows 10 1607.
The Bluetooth connection will not show a Com Port within the Hardware tab.
Also the OSTC Companion does not show a Com-Port to select.
Any advises?
Thank for your help in advance.

I heard from the "Creators Update" issue before. Right now, we have nop solution but I'm pretty sure this will be fixed with a Windows update soon. It happened before with Windows 10 and one update later it worked again.

Hi Matthias, thanks for your feedback regarding this issue.
Is there I way to ensure that MS will deliver it?

I don't think so. But I'm pretty sure they already know about it. A quick google for "Creators Update Bluetooth Issues" found so many different problems that MS should already know about it...

Re: OSTC 2 cannot connect in Win10 to upgrade firmware?!?
I had some issues earlier connecting Win10 on Surface Pro4 through bluetooth to my OSTC3; maybe this might help.
I initially tried using the Connect method, but it kept showing Download mode and I could not upgrade the firmware. OSTC Companion did not recognise the device as an OSTC3. I finally got success with the following:
1. Quit OSTC Companion, and relaunched it, and clicked on "Upgrade Firmware" without clicking on Connect first. This seemed to put in into Service mode connection and the firmware upgrade started.
2. I did get a "Error:Readbytes". The upgrade itself does not seem to happen and I removed the battery to reboot. However, retrying the upgrade twice, and getting through a timeout error, the firmware did succeed.
