Couple of Questions - depth and logbook

Post by Stewart Brinn »

Apologies - couple of questions.

My OSTC is recording dives as shallower than the Suunto and Uemis my buddy and I also used on a recent trip. On one occasion, the OSTC was reading 100.5m, the others reading 102. Not a massive error but enough to get me thinking. I'd noticed the depth difference earlier in the week and spent much of it playing with the salinity options, yet there was always a slight difference.

Second problem is that the dives logged in the logbook are apparently being started one hour later than the current time set on the computer.
Any suggestions at all?

I'm using firmware version 1.60 at the moment.

Hello,

The OSTC uses a formula of 10m/1Bar (With Salinity 1,00kg/l) to compute the depth out of the pressure. To compensate the topside air pressure, the value measured 30min before the dive is used (The OSTC samples the air pressure in sleepmode). What factor is used in the Uemis or the Suunto?

The Logbook time is the time when your dive ended, not the entry time. Why? Good question, we used this time since the very first firmware three years ago.

Cheers,
Matthias

Thanks for the reply, makes sense.

Is there any way to change the time setting in the logbook at all? It would be nice to be able to see the entry time rather than the exit time as an option?

Hello Stu,

No, this is not possible with the current firmware.
