Timeout problem

Post by teoman »

I am having problems connecting the computer and downloading the dive logs.

I have tried the 2 progams listed on the site. I can see the dive computer as a usb device. And then i install the usb to serial driver.

On the download program i can see "com3" which is the virtual serial port. I have tried all the combinations of the dive computer software version including auto and all other download protocol versions but I always get a timeout error.

I have tried this with a mac and a pc with no joy.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Troubelshooting the interface connection:

After installation the COM port should be tested by
- starting TinyBootloader
- selecting the COM port
-> Not possible? Close other COM port programs like DivingLog, jDiveLog etc. and restart TinyBootLoader.
- pressing CheckPic (no action required on the OSTC)

-> TX blinks for 10 seconds OK

(... Not found is fine is normal because the RESET button was not pressed. Hence the OSTC is not communicating with TinyBootLoader)

Testing the communication with the OSTC
- start DivingLog, jDiveLog etc.
- select the right COM port tested ahead
- turn on the OSTC
- set OSTC to surfacemode screen
- press Download in the PC program

Does this help with your timeout problem?

On device manager on windows i can see com port 3 as the virtual usb port
I started tinybootloader and did "check pic"

Connected to \\.\COM3 at 19200
Searching for PIC ...Not found,
ERROR!

But the Tx light was blinking.

Then I opened Diving Log 4.0 selected import dives, selected com3 as the port and pressed download, before that i had activated the dive computer and it was in surface mode.

Then i pressed download.

But i got OTSC not found, make sure it is connected and swithced on.

Still no idea why. When i pressed download tx blinked once.

Hello,

When checking the transfer between the bootloader and the OSTC with the "Check" button you have to follow the right procedure:

1. Connect OSTC with the Interface
2. Press "Check" at the bootloader
3. Press and release "Reset" at the interface within 10seconds

If this test fails, please contact us directly at info@heinrichsweikamp.com - there may be a problem with the interface.

With kind regards,
Matthias
