Hallo zusammen,
Andreas

Re: Deko Strategien
Hello,
set Troll=OFF
Bühlmann and Bühlmann-GF models are theoretical equations. Both gives you a way to compute a >, ie. a way to compute a runtime targeting some affordable level of risk. Doctor Bühlmann spend years to optimize the coefficients so be just on the edge of the dangerous zone.
Both models have security factors (either Sat/Desat CF11/12, or GF low/High CF32/33). If all security factors are set to 100%, you are one the edge of the nominal risk, and both models will gives you the same runtime.
As stated by Her Doctor himself, this is NOT ADVISABLE. You should add some security margin when diving, just because you surely don't want a >, nor have chances to become a new entry of the dive incident databases...
But OSTC is not limiting you there: If you set security factors to insecure values, you will just have flashing red reminder on the bottom line. The theoretical equations will continue to compute something. And the computer will display stops, and a runtime (for whatever it means).
CF08 is not related to model, or security margins. Just to whether your actual gradient factor is displayed or not.
Then indeed an emergency strategy might be to control you ascent speed to stay at some choosen GF during all the ascent. Such a continuous ascent sticking to e.g. "GF = 50%" will gives you the same profile as setting GF low/high to 50%:
* Except this is a continuous profile without steps, and there is controversy against that (at least for N2 decompression).
* And most will recommend you some 10/90 or 20/80 settings for deep helium dives. Which make the game harder (stick to 10% at the beginning, try to have hight value, up to 80% near surface). Certainly not easy in some emergency situation !

Re: Deko Strategien
Hi JeanDo,
I would like to read Her Doctor's original work however I may be looking in the wrong place cos I can't seem to find a copy of his book.
Would you know a place where I could order a copy? (in English or Spanish)
Thanks mate.
