OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
Hello,
I am diving the ostc it came with bungies and do not like the way the fit over my dryglove rings on my drysuit. And diving wetsuit 3mm you have to adjust them, it kept sliding and turning on my arm/wrist, then i made them a lot smaller and the bungies could be seen on my arm for a day after diving..
someone with a nice solution....?

Hi Remco,
The MKII used to be delivered with a velcro strap. So you might still be able to get them from HW for the 2N. Best contact them directly as I did not find any information on the HW website.

Re: OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
@Remco: Can't you find a length somewhere in between the two options you tried with the bungees? This bungee-cord is really cheep and in my opinion it is far better than velcro-straps.
Re: OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
Well...
I really do not understand why "everybody" starts whit bungies when the become tech. diver or want to look like one.
The use of a normal wrist band would be good for me, but i do not see the benefit of using bungies.... elastic velcro...the best of both worlds..??
But thats just me, so don't shoot...

Re: OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
Well, I had kind of what I think is a velcro strap on my aladin pro ultra. That was a pain in the ass... The first time I dove with a bottom timer with bungees, I never ever wanted to change them again. Benefits: When they have the correct length, they are not too tight at land and not too loose in the water - just perfect and simple to put them on also.
Re: OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
I see the big benefit of bungies, is there are 2. If one breaks / becomes undone, the other will hold. A single strap fails and you've lost your computer.
Re: OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
ok,
2 is beter than 1...
it is not to bad but whit the cuf rings from my drygloves it is a pain in the ***
to get them over.

Actually I tend to agree with Remco. However Elastic Velcro!?
Is there such a thing?

I have been using mine with bungees since I got my unit. velcro ... got kicked out. I am using Sitech rings and dry gloves, and so far haven't had any problem. also when using wet suit, or diving bare skin in warm water. I have two bungees installed, each of them threded through the holes in pattern like this |\ (and so the second one gos /|) this way You can choos which loops You would use for whatever suit (either the || ones or the /\ or all four |\/| if You want it ultra tight)

Hi Remco,
I tend to agree that bungees are a pain to stretch over the cuffs.
But then some are more elastic than others. The ones that came with my OSTC were really nice I must say, more elastic from the ones I have sitting in my drawer.
When switching to a thin wetsuit, I simply add a temporary knot in both of the bungees. When switching back to the drysuits it´s just a matter of seconds to open the (temporary) knots.

Re: OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
You'd be much better off using 5mm (3/8" ) surgical tubing as it's much more stretcy than bungee, but holds the computer firmly on your wrist.
I use it with drysuit/wetsuit/shortie without having to adjust the loop length. Goes over dryrings without a problem.

Your way of doing it seems just awesome. Could you give me/us 1-2 pictures to show how you did it. It just looks great to be able to use the same bungees for dry and wet suit without untying the knots every time you change diving suit.

Here You are. Seems to be pretty ok for me, and two independent bungees make me feel a bit more confident against loss of unit should one break or untie.
That's how I use it with my dry suit and dry gloves (only two loops)

and that's how I use it with wetsuit (notice 4 loops now)

Re: OSTC - Bungies / Drygloves
Thanks for the pictures. I shall try it right away.
I hope this works because I was looking for a way to use the same bungee for wet and dry suit without untying them.
Thanks again
