Name in Display ?
Hi
I saw that you could put i a custom text in the display in the OSTC 2N, how is that done.
Saw an old thread about that but the link in this thread was not available anymore so i can´t find the answer to the question above.

Hi marcusdk
Just follow the bouncing ball. Though only make changes to CF settings if you know what you're doing. Correct settings are critical for your safety.
------------------------------------------
Before you can connect with SW to your OSTC you need to install the FTDI USB/COM port driver.
So here is how you make changes to CF settings I and II and some of the OSTC information (Custom Text).
1. Make sure you have latest Diving Log version installed.
2. Connect your MK2 / 2N with USB and switch it on (it needs to stay switched on during this procedure).
3. Start Diving Log
4. Choose the File Menu > Download > OSTC

5. The OSTC Download Options Window Opens
- Diving Log should automatically detect the correct ComPort
6. Choose the "Configure OSTC" button

7. Diving Log will now Download the Configuration of the MkII / 2N and display the Configuration and CF menus
8. Expand the "Computer Information" menu if its not already expanded.
- Here you see the Information about the MkII / 2N
- Also the Custom Text is displayed here and can also be edited
See pic:

Type in the custom text you want displayed (in my case "Dive now work later" and insert the cursor in the next configuration.
- The "Save Changes to OSTC" button appears

- Click on the Save Changes button, the changes are now saved to the OSTC.
- The following window opens:

- Click on the "Next" button (there is nothing displayed as we are not importing any dives)
9. Click on the "Finish" button

- In the next window it say "Import Complete!"
10. Click on the "Close" button
The MkII / 2N goes black and then displays the screen again with the Custom Text.
Important!
Any other changes have to be made with great care and you should be sure that you know what you are doing.

If I remember correctly you can do this in the demo version. Take a look at OSTC Planner it is easier. I have both. I use OSTC Planner for any changes I want to make on the OSTC but I use diving log 5 because I now log all of my dives there.
Regards
Jerry.

Re: Name in Display ?
Yep, it works in the demo version of Diving Log. OSTCPlanner is a cool tool too. I use it as well.

Yes thats the one i tried, worked out well.
If i was able to connect with OSTC Tools and Diving Log 5.0, jdiving log.
Then i don´t need to install the FTDI USB/COM port driver ?
If so, where to download and which one is it ?

Re: Name in Display ?
Yes you do need to install the FTDI Drivers!!
You need to follow the instructions in the Manual.
