@reivilos

in my eyes the magic should be a stable OSTC, and not an OSTC which fulfills wishes of a minority. So it is easier for you to live with an usual decoplan (shallowest last) then the rest of us has to live with a buggy OSTC... You see my point? Generally everything is possible - but not everything makes sense!

Hi,

I'm with Tinoo!

When a "relativly useless" CF causes this kind of a problem it should be removed, especially if only a minority ( or only one ? ) user is aking for it.
For me a stable FW is much more important aswell then fulfilling all kind of exotic requests.

I'm pretty sure that all the CFs (OSTC) were introduced by the use of mentors (OSTC) not because they have been requested by some DIVERS but because they felt that this information (CFs) were and continue to make sense to continue to appreciate the great performance that (OSTC) already has and will continue to have thanks to its continuous development and affection they have for this project.
In my humble opinion I think we should continue to report: the difficulties and possible errors, request assistance, clarify doubts so that we can be part of this project with pride .

Until the next dive .

This bug is worth to be in the "sticky" section and not been hidden here.

I'm conviced that HW will fix it in the next release so we can keep this CF.

In general I can follow Oliviers point.

I also think that know that the bug was located it should be able to fix it quite soon. Nevertheless there is also this deco-ceiling problem !?

Just to notice: I'm not against CF's! I think they are really an advantage - as long as they are not overloading the code and/or causing problems... And i'm sure that HW will do their best to makes us ALL happy :-)

Dear All,
How come it has to be an ordeal to update the firmware of the OSTC? It should be so easy to update my OSTC 1763 from v 1.80 to the latest stable version 2.2 according to the instructions on your website, but the reality is quite different. In all honesty it should not take several hours of work to get these things to work. I am very happy about the Dive computer, but this makes for unhappy customers and just because you likes tech diving you should not necessarily be a computer specialist.
I have downloaded and installed the USB driversoftware and installed the Bootloader (version 1) as I still use the OSTC version 1.8. I have then downloaded the hex file for the v. 2.2. However, the bootloader cannot connect to the OSTC (and only gives me the possibility to use COM 3). When asking to check the connection it says that the PIC cannot be found.I have tried both Bootloader 1 and 2, but none are able to connect. Strangely enough the Diving Log 5.0 has no problems finding the OSTC and downloading the logbook.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit Home premium.
best regards

Hi Soren,

Most likely you're not "rebooting" the OSTC after clicking on "Check" or "Write" in the bootloader v1: http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/read.php?2,4071 has a step-by-step instruction.

Use the same COM port that Divinglog uses.

As we have seen some serious deco issues with this release I would recommend to unstick this thread and put a note in the first post.

Thx,
Jan

@Jan: Do you know which version is the last one without reported deco-problems and maybe even without CF55? Maybe downgrading is an option until those problems are isolated/fixed.

I am not very experienced with computers, downloads and updates, but understand that my OSTC N2 software needs to be updated according to your recommendations.

As a diver I am also rather a beginner, but I chose this computer for its high readabillity, I dive with adjusted mask lenses.

Can somebody give a more detailed instruction guidance, as I already get confused when I have to go to another webpage for a driver which by the way is a page with a lot of options.

Also I am advised to probably adjust the computer to take into consideration my age (54), how should I proceed ?

Thanks for some help

Alain, I would wait for a fix to the known issues in 2.20. Maybe you can find a fellow diver or someone else nearby to help you.

Tiefunten: AFAIR I did not have any issues with the last Beta :-)

Alain

I tend to agree with Solodiver. It might be practical to wait until the next stable release.

Adjusting your computer to your age is one thing, thats only one small part. It depends very much also on your dive profile and the conditions for each individual dive (water temperature, phyisical activity during and after the dive etc. etc. etc.)

So if your dives are purely recreational dives then there is not much you would want to adjust and you can use the "Bühlmann ZH-L16 OC" model. If you follow the rules:
- Stay well within No Decompression Limits
- Always include a safety stop on 3m
you should be fine.

If you want to start using Gradient Factor you should know and understand the theory behind it.

HW clearly state:
What this OSTC 2N dive computer is:
An experimental platform for all experienced divers who are interested in the theory of diving and who value maximum transparency and individual adaptabily.

As a matter of fact the "frog" dive computer might be better suited for you.

If you can't find anyone in your area who can assist you, I would be happy to help in setting up your PC. It's actually not quite as complicated as it appears.
Cheers,

Hansjoerg

Alain, as long as you are only using one Gas for a dive, you can upgrade to V2.2. But if you are using deco gases you should wait until the reported issues are fixed. There seem to be some rather serious deco bugs within V2.2.
