Hi,
The saftey stop is displayed between 5 and 3m (4.99m to 3.00m). The length is 3minutes. The time is reset when diving > 10m again. If the dive was a deco dive it's not shown.
Regards,
Matthias

Sounds absolutely perfect to me.
I would like to test this on Wednesday. If I download this firmware tonight and there are found to be any bugs, can I revert back to 2.21 again easily?

Yes, you can downgrade at any time.

Thanks, will try it Wednesday then. Great work, thank you.

The only suggestion I would make would be to set the start threshold at 6m(5.99) rather than 5 to match up with other DC's that do call for a safety stop
Cheers

Hi, is the safety stop function supposed to work in a simulated dive? If so mines not working.
Regards
Jerry.

I tried it again and it worked. Nice job.

not working with simulated dives

Hi,
ok, tried it on 3 dives yesterday and it works fine, however, one annomaly is that it switches into safety stop at 4.99M, but switches back off at 5.1.
It does however still seem to count down, just dissapears off the display until you ascent above 4.9 meters again.
Apart from that, worked like a charm, but I would prefer it to perhaps switch into safety stop at between 6 and 5.5m and maintain the display unless we drop back below 6.5 perhaps?

Strange - I tried this and mine doesn't work in a simulated dive either! Perhaps I will try again tonight - I am not going to use it anyway but am curious
Off topic but I would also vote for 10 gases for what it's worth
Keep up the good work

Make sure to turn the stop on (CF65). I'll wait for more comments before I change the thresholds...

Matthias

Interestingly, when I looked at it, it said Default "Off" Current setting "on" and it wouldnt work. I changed it from on, to off, and back again, and it worked fine. I wonder if it was really defaulted to "off" regardless of what it displayed?

Hallo Matthias,
habe einige TG`s im Simulator und im Freiwasser durchgeführt. Alles funktioniert einwandfrei. Bitte nur die Anfangstiefe auf 5,xx m ändern.
Gruß Uwe

Stu, that's exactly what I did and it started to work.
I also dropped back below 5m and the safety stop disappeared from the screen. When I ascended again it came back on at the same point. Not sure if that's intended but wouldn't cause me any problems.
Safety stop starting at 5.99 might be nice.

Jerry

Hi,
Ok, I'll add some hysteresis in showing the stop. The stop time is reset when going below 10m. Above, the old stop time is resumed.

Matthias

It works !
But you need to turn CF65 on even if it's on
Matthias, you need to translate it in french :
CF65 : Palier de sécurité
Dive screen : PalierSécu

Simply adjusting the countdown start depth to 6m would function as hysteresis and bring it to par with the Suunto and Mares implementation.

A 6m to 3m corridor for the safety stop would be perfect.

Well ... 3 minutes time ... is not in accordance to CMAS/LIFRAS regulations in Belgium, nor is 3 meters depth. And so the computer has a function, which would be useless for people who are used to do 5'/5m. Feels like half-baked cake, even if I am not using it. Just my feeling and 3 cents.

Computers sold in Belgium (Suunto, Mares, etc) give you a 5minx5m stop, or a standard 3min 6-3m stop?

I do not know what they give, as I time my stops myself, and usually, I am doing deco stops rather than safety stop. Having said that - I guess it is not the computer, but federation rules one is supposed to follow. At least that's what I was taught.
My message was just a signal, that could be treated as something to improve if You decide to have such functionality built-in. I am not interested in discussing if Suunto is right, or if CMAS is right - just stating the fact.

I don't think we are discussing a training-standard-compatible-dive computer here, but a simple Safety Stop like most computers have already. A guide to normal good diving practice when diving within the NDL.
The only difference is that it's configurable ON or OFF to suit the divers preferences.
Three minutes between 3 and 6 meters would be nice in my opinion.

3m, 5m, 6m ...
3 minutes, 5 minutes ..
The most simple : use StopWatch
