New 2.60beta available for download

Hi,
The new 2.60beta is now available for download:
http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/#/en/os ... /firmware/
The mix-Icons are history, they caused some confusion. They are replaced with a new indicator (all-time visible in surfacemode) showing which gases are active:
file.php?2,file=360,filename=OSTC.png[/img]
Example: Gas1 and Gas3 are active
Then we have some hard-coded limits for critical custom functions like CF00 and CF01. the cursor is now at the "exit" position when leaving some sub-menus (like the second gas setup page). Diluents are now stored just as OC gases (With the 4Byte/Gas format including the default diluent) - that was a request to make the PC-interface side more consistent.
New stable won't be published before we find a clean solution for the ceiling spikes (We prefer not to just hide them, which would be an easy fix).
Cheers,
Matthias

Nice idea!
Now i know at one glance about my gas setup.
The only thing i don't know is, if Gas 1 or Gas 3 is equal "Air"... So it would be nice to highlight the actual active gas (normally = First Gas) with a square around the number or just show it underlined or bold...?
Anyway, thanks for your efforts! Well done!

You need to reset the gases with "Menu -> Reset -> Reset all".

After some coffee and some time playing around with my OSTC, i'm asking myself: If i press the Right-Button two times (in surface mode) i'll get the gas list with some details - so why do i need the new indicator at all?

Hi,
i have just installed the new Version on my OSTC and went through the CFs.
Here some remarks according to the changedoc:
>> New in 2.60:
>> BETA Version - Do NOT use for diving!
>> CHANGE: Removed Mix type Icons and CF43
This is CF41 and not CF43.
>> CHANGE: Hardware4 support
can you explain this change?
>> CHANGE: Use 4Bytes in EEPROM for diluents (Same as OC gases)
Great: OSTCTools support that, i'm gonna check the Prog with the new Firmware.
>> NEW: Hard-coded min. Values for CF00 and CF01
minutes for CF00 and CF01, are you shure? This where meters.
I thaught that this was planned for CF70, but there is no change CF70 is from 0:00 to 4:15.
Regards
Rob

min would mean Minimum I think.

Ok,
than i mixed this up. (Thats the funny thing with 3 caracter abbreviations.)
But the only thing is that there is a warning in the upper right edge of the OSTC startscreen.
One can still set values that ostc put into divemode at the surface, i didn't test that to the bitter end, but i can set values that can cause a problem and a red message on the startscreen.

Rob

Hi,
You can still set CF00 and CF01 to zero, but any value below 20 will be ignored in the code. See changeset 686.

Matthias

I tend to agree with scubatinoo. As a matter of fact I prefer the mix icons because in surface mode I immediatly see which gas is set to first gas. I don't need to go and check (in the pic at the top we see the words "AIR" written, does that refer to the First Gas?)

In case the decision is not final, I would also opt for the mix icons ...
IMHO a row of numbers with on/off state seems very "binary" / not enough explanatory. I guess it can make sense for those who dive with standard mixes, but it is not my case.

The first gas is alway displayed (That's unchanged in the 2.60).
New is, that you see that any other gas is active, too. And you see this all the time.
Pressing the right button gives the details (As scubatinoo found out) without entering the gas setup.

Hello Matthias,
is it possible to change the new indicator like this:
"1 Gas" for one active gas
"2 Gases" for two active gases and so on?
So you can see how many gases are active and if you click 2 times right you see the details.
I did some simulated dives and now the aGF`s are looking good.

... Or replace the indicator by a title "Active Gas" followed by "G1: Air" for example ( if G1 is defined as Air)

Happy with the new changes, cannot see any real benefit from the above proposals.

Me too. You need to have a look in the gaslist with the right button anyway. The new display just indicates which gas is active. If you have two stages and see only one active gas probably something is not configured correctly -> Check gaslist for details.

Matthias

Never had any big problems with the old layout, but I guess I could live with the new one as well
If you're going for that new layout, what about color-coding the active gases so you see if the other active gases are air/ean/Tmx?
And if space permitting maybe add an indicator showing what is the first gas (first gas might not be G1).
See attached picture as an photo-edited suggestion, where first gas is G1 (air), G2 & G4 inactive and G3 & G5 are EAN (eg 32% + 100%).

Tmx be brown if used?
Personally I'd like the color of the inactive gases to be quite dark-gray instead of some bluish-purple, but that's just one of many oppinions in the sea!
Good work as usual!

Of course the color on the inactive gases should be taken from CF64 also here!
I just changed the color on the sample pic

Nice all the new features..
I just install it on my ostc and make same test with the simulator.
I have set GF standard to 30/85 and alternative to 10/90
In a dive at 55 meters after 4 minutes i got deco, but only 2'@20m
In the deco plan the 2'@20m are in a different color... is like a deep stop?
Because after 4' could not be deco.
Afeter several minutes at the same depth, I notice that the deco was not starting from 15 or 18m but only at 3 6 and 9.
Is something change in the decompression schema? Could we have same more details?
Thanks for the effort.
Cheers

Hi Matthias,
yesterday i did a dive with v2.60 at 63m,
L16-GF-OC with a set of alternative GF and CF69="AN" german firmware version.
During the dive i was not able to switch to the alternative GF.
Are there other settings i have to do?

@ Rob
In order to change from the default GF to alternative, in dive mode you have to press the right button untill you will see GF information.
Then you can access to the menu pressing left button and you will see an entry "ToggleGF". Pressing it OSTC will switch between the 2 GF.
I have understand what was the 2'@20m I have set a nitrox 50 with change deep 20m. the proposal stop I guess it will depend from that.
Cheers

Thanks... i think thats it.
I just saw the place in the menu, where the "ToggleGF" should be, empty.
