Update - With a very big magnet I were able to do a reset and the debug information has been sent to HW.


Hi Guys,

I have an OSTC 2N which I am unable to start!

Before last dive I started the OSTC and it turned on. Then when I entered water I found out that the OSTC was not on and I thought that is was due to the time limit and I then tried to start it again without luck. I could see that the small orange flash light in the logo between heinrichs and weikamp is flashing 3 times with an interval of around 6 seconds. I have tried to charge the battery overnight and the problem is the same.

Magnetic reset has been tried without luck.

I almost always charge the OSTC after every dive and therefore the battery is never discharged. But it has been 6 weeks between last and current dive, roughly calculated.

Can you guide me on how to get the device up to speed again?

Do you have any response from the OSTC? I have the same problem as of today. The computer is not responding anymore.

Hi Bram,

HW replied on my mail and asked me if I was on Firmware 2.50 which I am. They told me that this should only occur if voltage on battery is low.

After I reset the OSTC 2n (with USB attached and big magnet) the 2n is working just fine. I have used it on 6 dives after the reset without any problems.

Same Problem here. Firmware is 2.50, OSTC was ok while and after diving, but some hours later, the screen is black and the LED is blinking orange. The battery was more or less fully charged.

I'll try to reset it later with the magnet, let's see if that helps.

Hi Steve,

Please remember to send the dump information, on screen, when you have performed the reset. In that way I hope HW has a better way to troubleshoot this issue.

In some cases this is because of a defective pressure sensor. Not good, but we can replace these (at no costs), of course.

Ok, i did the magnet reset (error dump as attached). It worked and everything seemed to be fine (surface pressure was around 9xx mbar) . But then, the computer fell back in the same mode as before. Did the magnet thing again, the computer came back again, but was in diving mode (?!). For a very short period of time, i saw the depth and it seemed to be very deep, then it went out again. Maybe still a problem with the sensor? Or is it a software problem? Any chance flashing the computer to an older version, if it is in that state?
The error dump on the second reset looked a bit different than the first one.

I also had this issue today.

I was almost out of battery after 40 dives so I plugged on the OSTC to an usb charger and waited for 3 hours.
Then I wanted to check if charging was completed, I turned on the OSTC (still plugged to the charger) and I saw the main screen for about 2sec then it turned to divemode and immediately went to black screen with orange led flashing 3 times.
Impossible to switch on again the OSTC.

Did a magnet reset and had the following debug information:
1 tsvtAu. 36 7
32 16 100 195 128
64 6 32 192 0

Yesterday the OSTC indicated strange temperature (around 32°C) while another OSTC indicated only 26°C (maybe it gets hot during battery charging).
This morning the temperatures of the 2 computers were identical.
I did a dive with the OSTC which was affected by the black screen bug, and everything worked fine.

Had this issue again today.
I plugged the OSTC to charge the battery to an USB charger.
Few hours later I unplug it and I try to switch on the unit, but I get the black screen and the orange led flashing.
I had to do a magnet reset to get it functionnal again.

The USB charger can't be blamed, because I put another OSTC unit to charge, and it worked fine.
