OSTC3 "wet connection"

I read that there is a "wet" connection in the OSTC3. Does this mean you can disconnect the O2-cable under water (and f.i. connect it with a backup unit)?
Thanks,
Ronald

Yes, it's an optical link which can be disconnected and reconnected underwater.

Thanks.
I'd like to make a connection between my 3 o2-sensors and the OSTC unit. What are the possibilities?

Matthias, thanks for your answer, but I do not understand. Are you saying that the read out of the o2 sensors can only been shown on the HUD, in the form of LEDs? Or can I use the battery and electronic part of hte hwHUD to connect to a OSTC by optical link?
Greetings, Ronald

Hello Ronald,
The HUD works independent from the OSTC (Calibration, power supply and display on the HUD itself). Additionally, the ppO2 levels and cell voltages are transferred to the OSTC3. While the HUD show the ppO2 in blinking codes, the OSTC3 will show the ppO2 in bar, of course.
The HUD can only be used in combination of the electronic box (with the battery) and the HUD itself. If you already have a HUD on your system. It makes little sense to use two (different) HUDs. In this case put the HUD into your pocket, you'll still need it to calibrate and verify the HUD is powered on and off.
regards,
Matthias

So, beside the calibration part, I can put the HUD in my pocket as you say, and use the electronic unit with the OSTC3 to get there all the relevant information there (PO2/voltage). In that case I can decide to use the HUD on some dives, and leave it above water on other dives. I suppose, if I see it right, that there is a watertight plug or something to leave the HUD with cable disconnected?
Greetings, Ronald

No, the HUD, the electronic box and the sensors will be hardwired when installed. The optical link to the computer can be detached, of course.
See the manual page 18 and following:
