Lost USB Connection

Hi,
since yesterday I have the following problem. I can not connect my OSTC 2 (v2,70) via USB. The OSTC works fine, loading via USB is no problem but I can not connect with the PC neither with the diving log software I use nor the bootloader. I tried several combinations of cabeles an PCs.
Any clue?
Christoph

Hi,
There is no magic trick here, if can rule out the cable and driver, it's a contact issue.
Such issues are linked to corrosion on the bulkhead pins, most likely. Can you have a look at the pins and carefully clean them (With WD40, for example) if necessary?
Regards,
Matthias

I wonder about this as the OSTC is quite new and I did no dives between working and not.

Christoph, did you plug anything else to your USB? Is the battery symbol changing its color when plugged in?
My OSTC is charging but not connecting when plugged to an USB-Hub, for example. I have to connect it directely to an USB-Port on my Computer, but i guess this is an Hardware issue from my computer...

Hi,
You'll need a cable with a small head. When the cable is not fully inserted the unit may charge but the actual data lines are not connected yet. If you email us
info@heinrichsweikamp.com we'll put a compatible cable for you in the mail today.
Regards,
Matthias

@scubatinoo:
I tried several cabels and changed USB Ports (hub and directly) I also tried it on my notebook and the PC on work. The bat symbol changes it's colour but no connection to the software.
@Matthias:
email is on it's way - thank you.
Regards,
Christoph

Christoph, i think it's a driver problem. Did you try to install the "original" drivers from
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm ?

...back again. Meanwhile I got the new USB cable, thanks Matthias, checked everything. reinstalled drivers - nothing.
The OSTC is loading but not recognised by the PC - any further comments or ideas?

Christoph

Hi Christoph,
Please send in the unit for a check. So we can rule out (or confirm) the issue with the 2N itself.

Matthias
