OSTC 7860 software for mac and decompression

Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help here.
I apologise in advance for my english which is not perfect but I am not an anglosaxon, and I am also not a geek, just a french girl who loves diving with her brand new OSTC !
I bought this summer the OSTC 2N and I downloaded subsurface but when I try to import all the datas from the OSTC to my computer, it just won't work (error message says : impossible to open OSTC). I am using a macbook with snow leopard. Does anyone know what is going wrong? I don't really need a sophisticated software but I would like to save all my dives on the hard disk of my computer.
Other matter, usually most dive computers give a 3min safety decompression time at 3 meters no matter how "short" and how little deep was the dive. This is not the case with my OSTC is there any option to change that ? Can I set up such a safety decompression time ?
Thank you in advance for your help,
Blennie

Sorry but I know very little about Mac's and Subsurface.
However, I can help you on the safety stop issue. Are you running 2.70 software? If so there is a safety stop option. It's CF65 to turn it on. CF70 sets the stop length. CF71 sets the depth at which you want to start your stop. It is set as a default to 5.1 but many change that to 6.1 to fall in line with other commercially available computers. CF72 sets to depth you want the stop to finish. CF73 sets the depth that the safety stop resets.
Cheers
Jerry

Done ! Thank you for your help Jerry.
Hopefully someone will show for my software issue.
Do you know how many dives will be saved in the logbook of the computer ?
Cheers,

Hi Blennie
I don't know much about subsurface but Mac Dive works like a charm on my iMac. Moreover Nick is really helpfull and updates his software on a regular basis.
I bought it and love it.
It's worth taking a look for sure.

Did you install the Virtual Com Port driver? Have a
look here:

Hi,
Just as a proof of concept: We have tested Subsurface with a new installed MAC OS 10.9 here with both, the OSTC2 and OSCT3 -> Works fine and in both cases the driver has been installed automatically.
Maybe administrator rights are required (Quite likely).

Matthias

Hi Blennie,
The Subsurface dive logging software is excellent and they provide and Open Source 'dmg' for the Mac. The current live version is 3.1.1. If you Google for Subsurface I'm sure you'll find it.
As for the fdtichip stuff I'm not sure you'll need it or not with Subsurface as I tried several other software packages before deciding Subsurface was the best for me and they required the VCP driver so it was already installed before I installed Subsurface.
One current shortcoming of Subsurface, as far as the OSTC is concerned, is that you cannot install new firmware with it. As I understand it that is in the pipeline but won't be available for some time. In the meantime you can download ostc-fwupdate binary from 'libdivecomputer' and that will enable you to do a firmware update. It's a bit rough and ready but it does the job for me.
Hope this is not too confusing.
