Go to this page (
http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/?id=145) and then follow the link at the bottom (
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm).
Look up your OS and CPU type in the table and download the relevant DMG (probably this one
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP/Mac ... 2_2_18.dmg)
For info, I'm using Subsurface for logbook downloads. I've not used the Mac for firmware updates.

... and make sure that you have the latest Mac OS X! Then i think you don't need to install the FTDI-drivers at all... Check the software settings for the right connection port.
I'm using subsurface and did Firmware-Updates using OSTC-Planner on my Mac.

Have you read my mail I send you yesterday with the link to the Subsurface manual?
If you want support here I'd strongly recommend to ask more precise and give some more information about what you have done and what you can't find. Have you seen this window already?

Ports on a MAC are called different then "COM5", it's more like "/dev/tty.*" but the window looks very similar to the image above.

Matthias

dear Matthias
thanks for the mail.
SUBSURFACE
Yes i have tried and found this page in subsurface
its not giving me any port options
only 2 options that look like that (first image)
and none of them seem to work
i get error messages (second image)
its exactly like the page you show me but its not importing anyhow.
JDIVELOG
when i try to import from divecomputer
its showing me simply
driver failed
OSTC PLANNER
its showing me that i need
WARNING NO PORT! did you installed the FTDI VCP driver
and in the ports options its not letting me choose anything
MACDRIVE
the computer is not showing me the device as connected
this is all the info i have
i understand that possibly for you that you understand Linux and code is very simple but remember that i am not a IT guy and i just bought the product for the quality and not for the fact that i can figure things out myself.
Therefore all i need is for the computer to connect
i even paid 40 euros to but the OSTC license and i cant even update the firmware as requested.
My OS X is 10.9.4
and i have managed to connect every other piece of equipment before
i am sure it simple but does not seem to work here at least.
Please let me know how to do it
many thanks
stratis

Dear Matthias
i went through the subsurface manual and is not having any specifics about the OSTC 2C computer, simply tells me that i need to define a port
Which i understand, but none of the programs mentioned above seems to even give me the option to choose from.
So i wonder if this is one of your products how do you guys connect it to a mac?
i mean, which port you use there?
And why is not showing up to me?
thanks again,
stratis

When the OSTC is plugged in does it charge?
Do you use the USB cable provided by HW?

hi
yes it charges,
the original cable i use for sure
suddenly with nothing changed to the settings etc
i can connect to Mac dive, subsurface
so seems that problem was solved
can it be that the usb port was humid after the dive?
i left it to dry for 3 hours should be fine no?
anyhow now seems to work
many thanks

Did you see any humidity in the USB port? If yes was it fresh or salt water? You need to keep an eye on this to see if water gets in again. Tighten the screw gently, forcing it might actually damage the OSTC.
Computers tend not to fix themselves suddenly, its invariably an action of the user that makes it work, hence the expression PEBKAC.

As Matthias said, to be able to help, the people here in the forum do need a bit more information and it also pays to use the Forum search function. I can assure you, you are not the first person with a connection problem and you might find it's not even your last.
Oh and just another Tip. If you have colleagues with an OSTC and you have a connection problem on your Mac. Connect your OSTC to their computer, if it works there then you definately have a problem with your Mac (or your USB cable)...

hi
as mentioned above, the OSTC 2C now does not work again when connected to the USB port
maybe is a hardware issue with the actual USB port
any thoughts?

Have you got anything on the OSTC display? You need to wake it up by pressing a button.
