Hello guys,
I just turned on my OSTC 2N after 3 months to check the battery before going diving tomorrow. And I noticed that the battery icon on my bottom left corner is flashing even though the "filling" indicates that it should be about 85% full.
So I decided to connect it to my computer to recharge it fully and the icon has turned orange (to show it's charging) but it's still flashing.
I've never seen that behavior. Any idea guys ?
Thanks

Re: Battery icon flashing
That might be the new functionality introduced in firmware 3.00.
CF74: Battery timeout BETA
Battery symbol or battery voltage will blink if the OSTC was longer in active mode then this value. A full recharge resets the timeout.
Default value: 1800 min (30 hours)
Suggested range: 0...32767 min

Re: Battery icon flashing
Thanks Jb.
There are still 2 things I don't understand :
1) my ostc sat in his box for 2.5 months while off so why is it blinking ? And yes I always make sure it's "off" before closing its box
2) to test, I've changed the CF74 to zero but it's still blinking.
And finaly, I just did a dive today and everything was fine under water. It performed as normal.
I guess I'll just have to get used to the icon blinking.

Re: Battery icon flashing
You have to leave it on charge for a long time. The battery symbol will be flashing even when the battery symbol shows it is full, but the battery shows full once the battery is 95% full.
Eventually it will stop flashing and the on-time counter will reset to zero. The battery symbol will continue to flash until the battery is 100% full.

Happy diving,

Hi,
By setting CF74 to 32767 (-1) this feature can be disabled completely.
regards,
Matthias

Re: Battery icon flashing
I've charged my OSTC yesterday evening for a long time and as you susggested Laurie, the blinking icon disappeared. Thanks a lot.
Thanks Matthias, I didn't know it. I shall apply it right away.

Re: Battery icon flashing
I encountered the 'battery icon flashing problem' after using OSTC Tools for defining a custom text instead of OSTC ####.
I didn't touch the Custom functions within OSTC Tools. However, I found CF74 to be set to zero. If the battery icon is flashing, check the setting of CF74 first!
Setting CF74 = 0 will always cause the battery icon to flash.
To fix this, set CF74 to 1800 (default) or any other value that is higher than the on-time which can be found in the battery information menu. Or disable the function completely as described by Matthias.
