Connecting OSTC Sport to PC

This should be easy (particularly since blue tooth is the only option) however it is clearly not. There are numerous threads on here asking for help.

Is there any concise step by step set of instructions for achieving a reliable connection.

I am using a windows 8 PC and whilst a blue tooth device is seen a reliable connection is never made and Companion never works

It is therefore not possible to update firmware.

Same problem with OSTC2

- Initial bluetooth connection and pairing ok

- Companion can establish once a connection and readout header data icl.serial number

-OSTC switches to mode: "Service mode enabled"

-randomly (e.g. 5 times out of approx 200attempts) the companion allows to go next step and e.g. the Change Name window opens
....but update to OSTC results in error followed by companion crash in next attempt.

- for a next trial it seems to be required to to remove OSTC bluetooth registration and for forced quit of companion and than go for a coffee to wait until the OSTC decides to return from "service mode enabled" hibernation.

I tried this on OS X, WIN8.1 and WIN10....with 2 OSTC2 (50+dives)
