Deco-mode if you stay down longer than the NDL?

Post by Olalj123 »

Hi,

This summer i made a dive to 37,5 metres with NX28-gas (MOD 40 m) I had my OSTC Sport set with ZH-L16+GF with conservatism at 0. The computers software was version 10.15.

I hit 0 NDL shortly after I started ascending, when I was at about 36 metres. I continued the ascent slowly. The computer never went in to deco-mode.I had 0 NDL until I was at about 18 metres. There I got 12 minutes NDL.

My question is: Did I manage to, so to speak, ride the 0 while ascending or does the OSTC Sport not switch automatically in to deco-mode if you stay down longer than the NDL?

I can't find this information in the manual.

Thankful for answers

Hello Ola,

While diving at the edge between no-deco and deco you can see this NDL: 0' for a longer period. That's because of the two different algorithms for computing the NDL and computing the deco. While the NDL algorithm results with 0min no-deco time left, the deco algorithm computes the desaturation during the ascend (With 10m/min). This desaturation remoces the (show, less then 1min stop) stop before reaching the stop depth. As a result you get NDL: 0'

Thank you,

That's more or less what I thought.

I was, as I wrote "riding the 0" in the sense that the projected deco was less than 1 minute and was managed by my slow ascent?

Thank you for a great product and great service.
