OSTC3 Switch/button failure

After 2 seasons of use the buttons on my OSTC3 have started to malfunction. About 50% of the time the right hand one will take up to 7 seconds to activate.
Upon taking off the bungie holder and removing the red switch buttons it appears that the magnetic material in the switch may be corroding. This unit has always had time in a fresh water tank alongside my CCR after being in the sea so I guess this is a design issue. I suggest anyone with an OSTC3 has a look at theirs.
After an ultrasonic clean they work better but I guess the buttons need replacing, which is simple enough if I can get the buttons.
You may find it difficult to get the screws out of the bungie plate as after 2 years they had corroded in on mine. I suggest everyone removes theirs and greases them like they should have been on original assembly.

Matthias,

My OSTC3 has the same problem with the control buttons,
I rinse with fresh water after each dive my OSTC3,

The right button "view" works after 4 or 6 times with a long press or short,
At land that is already quite disturbing but worse under water ...
Is it possible to get spare buttons and bungie plate screws.

Same issue. It is a moulding fault in the red aluminium switsh leaving a small gap. Here rust /iron is accumulating to the magnet ... evening out the power of the magnetic switch. I had problem to remove the long screw due to corroding...so the backplate and screw head was damaged. But it was the only way to fix the problem. I put in some vaseline grease in the small gap but maybe hotmelt glue or other pastes could do the same job.
I will drop Mattias a mail because I need a new backplate and long screw.

Hi Matthias,
Owner's manual page 78 shows the use of an 2 mm Allen key to remove the 4 screws on lower housing plate to fixing bungee,
I think there is an error on the dimension and key should be rather Torx 10 according the 4 screws exchanged by HW on my OSTC3
Using of 2 mm allen key may be the cause of the difficulty to remove the 4 screws in addition to a possible lack of lubrication
I think also than the owner's manual should recommend at user to grease with silicone the 4 screws at least 1 time per year,

Hello,
We switched to Torx screws last year. They are more robust.

Matthias,
Super ! But Owner's manual always shows the use of a 2mm Allen key instead of the key 10 Torx.

It's true for the OSTC3 manual (Sport is updated already)... The next update for the OSTC3 will come during the summer.

I do not understand if the problem has been solved somehow definitively: was a defective batch of buttons or every Sport/Ostc3 will suffer the same issue? As I wrote in another post I tried a Sport and the right red button was not usable.
Black buttons are affected by the same issue?
Thanks

This issue is nothing that happens regularly and has nothing to do with the color of the buttons.

Matthias

By "is nothing that happens regularly" do you mean that not all computers are affected?
I ask because it can also be understood that the issue happens regularly on all computers, which is the correct meaning?

As far as I can tell we have replaced ~5 buttons in total.
