Hi.

Just tried to upgrade my OSTC4 to 1.5 version and got an issue.

It upgraded all but the RTE. It is still on 1.8 and it is not allowing to upgrade it to 1.9.

I am using the OSTC companinon v.3.0.0 beta 8 on my Mac. I am also attaching some images to help.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

it seems that this is a problem with the companion.
I just did the update for my ostc4 from firmware 1.4.8 RTE 1.8 using the downloaded firmware 1.5.0 with HWOSConfig for Android and it works.

Just do the update again,
than it should work.

Regards
Rob

Hi Rob, Thanks so much to help out.

I am unlucky: tried several times with the OSTC Companion without success. With the HWOS Config also - it does not display any available firmware.

I attached a photo of it.

Hi,

First, select OSTC4 in the combobox,
Than klick the button with the cloud to download the firmware.
After that you can connect the ostc
and press the upload button (the lower right one) that is grey now.

Than, it should work.

Remark, i just released a new version of HWOSConfig for Android which speeds up the upload of the firmware to the ostc.
The new version is 1.1.0. You should recieve this version automatically from Google.

Rob

Hi. I have done that, but with no success. I have waited for the new version and have the same result.

I have select the firmware type to OSTC 4, but the cloud button does nothing.
I have done the same thing but already connected to the OSTC4, but it also does nothing.

The problem is that it does not have any firmware source to update from.

Thanks.

Hi,

sounds strange, dis you grant access to files / disk to the app?
Normally the app asks for that during the first startup.

What device are you using? What is your Android version.
Can you check if there is a folder called HWOSConfig in the root folder of your phone.
Can you see a download dialog when clicking on the cloud symbol?
Any did you have any VPN running on your phone? (NetGuard...)

I'm checking google if there are any errors.

Regards
Rob

It did and I gave. On the device root I have a folder called "HWOSConfig". It is empty.

It is a Sony xZ2 and it has Android 9 [4.9.112 (2019-05)] with the security patch from 1 Jun 2019.

No. If I press some times it appears and disappears in a heartbeat.

If I select "HWOS Tech" instead of "OSTC 4" on the combobox, it asks the language but does not download anything.

WiFy connection at home with direct Internet access.

Thank you.

Hi cad405,

it is quite normal tht the dialog appears and disappears in just a blomp when you are connected through wlan with a fast internet line.
I think the problem has to do with Android9, google shows no error for the app with the latest version.

Please try the following,
unzip the attached file and copy both files (ostc4_fw_1-5-0.bin and ostc4_changelog_1-5-0.txt) from the attachment in the HWOSConfig folder, and try the update again. it is the 1.5.0 Firmware i loaded on 12.08.2019 00:27.

Rob

Thanks. It worked. The problem was that it was not downloading anything. I imagine there is a problem with this phone' sw version.

I also tried with another phone (a Huawei) and it worked with no issues.

Hi cad405,

can you contact me per email, please.
I fear that this has something to do with the android version and i would like to find out what was wrong.

I will prepare a special version and mail it to you to find out what happens on this device.

regards
Rob

Rob, it worked after I downloaded your zip and extracted it. One more suggestion. When updating the ostc4 you get a progress bar in your app. If the screen of the device is accidentally touched the progressbar disappears and cannot be switched back. I was stuck looking at the HWos app wondering if the update is really proceeding, on the ostc4 it only says updating. It would be good to integrate the update bar in the app so it doesn't disappear.

Also had the app crashing a couple of times.

This should be fixed too.

Lets see if the crashes came from the android 9 problems.
In Google i can see only on crash, and that was one i have forced.
In my Android 9 emulator it works without problems.

When you have problems, please tell me.

Rob
