TC switched to bootloader

Post by TomtheRom »

Hi there

My OSTC4 loaded over night from 3.6V to 4V and I could set O2 content for the gas before the dive.
In the water it switched unintentioally to Bootloader mode and suggested to start bluetooth. Dislpay was upsideddown an pushing the buttons 'Exit' or 'Sleep' did not react.

What can I do tu wake up the TC?

Best regards
Thom

Press "Exit" to start the unit normally.

Thanks for replying, Matthias

This was my first intention and try - unfortunately nothing happens by pressing any button

Hi,

3 Options: Connect with "OSTConf" App and check/update firmware, hard reset with a magnet (Put on charger, trigger the reset with a magnet on the left housing side (or right if you have flipped the screen) or remove battery and re-insert it.

Hi Matthias

Thanks for responding late at night 👍

I will try tomorrow - removing the battery means unscrew the cover at one side of the OSTC4?

But first do a hard Reset with the magnet...
...and yes to remove the battery you have to unscrew the cap of the battery compartment.

Thanks for the suggestions - the magnet did the trick.

OSTC4 is back alive - voltage again at 3.6V - as we are not diving today, I'll leave it with the charger.

What could have been the reason for the TC to freeze?
Do I have to expect this behaviour in the future as well?

OSTconf seems o be an iOS-App - I tried with HWOS config on my Android, but was not able to connety via bluetooth.

One suggestion / feature request:
As I am struggling several times to find the 'sweet spot' for the loading pad - would it be possible to get/manufacture a different back plate with a 'groove' for the loading pad at the right spot?
My OSTC2 has exactly this and works like a charm - the OSTC4 with the Alu-housing is much more sensitive and would be much easier to load.

Thanks again and best regards
Thom

We have a backplate for the newer OSTC 4 (2020 and later) with a recess for the charger.

But you can see the orientation in the attached image.

This sounds terrific.... 😊😊

I know the position (more ir less) and still my TC needs a long time to load.
My 01061 I bought in 2022, so I assume its from the new series.

Would you please send me a repacement backplate and the invoice, please?!

Actually, the backplate is not that relevant. The new HW chager is excellent and charges much better.

I had the same problem, which got me to design a 3D-printable cradle to ensure proper positioning of the charger. It now even supports a fan to keep the OSTC4 cool while charging:
