New 1.70 Stable available

Hello,
Today, we uploaded the new 1.70 Stable for the OSTC1 and OSTC Mk.2:
http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/en/ostc_mk2/firmware
We recommend that all users upgrade to this Version.
What are the major differences compared to the 1.60?
- A much better battery sign which is a better representation of the remaining battery capacity then in the 1.60
- A new color Layout in the Divemode with customizable warnings for GF, ascend speed, Depth and ppO2 (Mk.2 only)
- All 5 Gases are now used to compute the decompression forecast, so even with 4 Gas Changes ahead you'll see your final decompression stops
- The On-board Simulator is
much faster now and shows more information in the result screen
- Built-in clock can now be fine tuned manually
- Simulated dives are no longer stored in the logbook and do not affect the History
http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/de/ostc_mk2/firmware

donwnloaded 1.7, installed it and did some simulations
1) download --> no problem
2) install --> no problem
3) check firmware with divinglog --> firmware ok, firware id not recognized
4) check OSTC and settings, most of the setting still the same, gases were still there but I think they were all set to active
5) simulater works really fast and gases are taken into account now. Really good job, I like the speed now. Now I don't need a PDA anymore for planning
6) dive simulation, first time he started at 41,9m wich is strange, second time at 15m as normal. ascent rate warning colors red (nice) and als ppO2 warning works and turns red.
7) did another firmware check with divinglog after MD2 Hash and now he recognize everything.
overall view at surface --> really nice version, seems stable. Some great new features. I will test it saturday during dive and try to compare it with suunto
grz,
Steve

hi,
one little problem with ppo2 display on ostc1.
there is a space (black square?:) displayed
just after ppo2 value, which covers upper part
of a digit in dive time when seconds are
displayed. it applies to times over 10 minutes,
i.e. for 21:33 upper part of digit '2' is no
displayed. also some ppo2 flickering can be
noticed. easy to spot with simulation.

w

What about deco stops ? Is there a complete scrollable list available now or still limited to 6 shallowest ?

no there isn't, list is not scrollable but now shows the first 6 decostops
fe 24m till 9m. 6 and 3m stops aren't showed. I tried left and right button to scroll but then it returns to menu.
Gaslist is also shown now at theleft side, decostops on the right side. There is still place available for more then 6 decostops.
Can this be fixed?

Well, do they at least get removed from the list when clearing the stops, to make room for shallower stops ? Say I have stops starting at 27, going dow 24,21,18,15. When I clear 27 off, I would like to see it off the list with new entry of 12 added above 15. Sorry for asking, have not had a chance to upgrade and test it yet.

Had a few problems with installation, first time the computer failed to boot up at all, fortunately using a magnet to reset and install v1.6 got the computer running again.
Tried another download in case there was some file corruption, upon trying to install v1.7 the computer displays
Unexpected reset from divmode. Please help and report the Debug information below:
0 0 252 241 143 5 0 0 0 0
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong

Hi,
This debug note appears if the computer "thinks" it was in divemode when restarting. A false alarm in this case. Just press the ENTER button to continue booting. You should now see the 1.70 installed properly.

Matthias

Thanks Matthias
Have just re-installed and everything went perfectly, V1.7 now installed, excellent as some of the new functions are a real bonus.

Running 1.70 om ostc mk1.It wound really by nice With a "more" button on the decoplan screen so you can See all deco stops before the dive.

I flashed my mk2 yesterday and dived it today.
Real progress. Very nice work. Especially on the simulator.
I have a question towards the deco calculations. The GF sim seems to generate longer deeper stops and shorter shallower stops than the planner i used up to now. Has there been like a comparison toward other software that's been documented ? I would be very interested to see that.

hi,
I have a problem about planner in OSTC MKI and MKII(GF 20/80), every time when I do planner (all the same parametrs 60m 21 min (AIR,deco EAN 50 and OXY) usually result is diffrent,
first attempt
30 - 1
27 - 0
24 - 3
18 - 1
15 - 3
12 - 4
9 - 6
6 - 18
second attempt
30 - 2
27 - 0
24 - 1
21 - 2
18 - 3
15 - 1
12 - 5
9 - 5
6 - 16
Why the result is not the same ?

It sims that the PPO2 is not stable on set point when under 48m in the sim, then it climbs the deep you go. Thats not right?
The upgrade went perfect. 1.7

Hallo Zusammen,
"NEW: CF48 sets positive clock offset [seconds/24h], added at Midnight"

Christian
PS: Ich verwende einen OSTC MK1

Hello Matthias,
1.70 works fine!
I do have one request for the next version though. Is it possible to show the GF permanently, even after deco is done?
I like to stay some extra minutes on 2 and/or 1 meters once in a while and it would be nice to compare the felt condition of myself after the dive with the actual GF.
Regards
Markus

Hallo

1.70 Stable, decompression forecast

Instaled ver.1.70.
In dive mode, active gases is still not taken in account to calculate the decompression forecast.

Hi.
I'm havning the same problem when simulating deco. (OSTC Mk2 v1.7, GF15/75)
This feels like a major problem to me, if the "on the fly calculations" during dives are as unreliable.
Any official comments on this problem?

A small variation in the calculated ceiling due to ambient pressure variations can cause this different output in the simulator routine (Which uses 1min as the minimum step size). We'll try to improve the results in the future versions. This will not affect the dive mode deco at all.

Matthias
