Hi all,

The last version came with an altimeter, which is pretty exciting but not as useful as would be a barometer.

I know that pressure is always indicated on the main screen, but what could be more useful is the ability to toggle between altimeter and barometer mode. The last one would block altitude at current level (ex. at sea level when you're on dive vacations and stay on the boat) and show arrows (?????) indicating pressure changes during, say, last 6 or 12 hours. So that you'll get a quick information about possible weather changes...

That function is a classical one on most of commercial altimeters / barometers, most of them coming with a "storm alert" activated by a sudden and important pressure change. It should be pretty easy to implement and useful to most of us.

Come on! There is at least one barometer on every commercial boat, and You can always get forecast by calling via VHF. Honestly, I see no use of it, and it just adds to complexity of software. It's a dive computer, not a navigation device or weather station. You can get weather station from 20EUR on ebay and don't need a dive computer for that.
Just my humble opinion.

I don't agree with you, gorcio. I have my own boat (which is quite small) and I'd like to have a barometer on my dive computer to be able to predict the weather. Until now I havn’t bought any VHF and I don’t foresee to do it for this boat. The complexity is not so big as the pressure is already measured in sleep mode.

first, I said "commercial boat". I suppose Your small is private and thus it's up to You to equip it. Second, diving computer is rather used for diving, are You going to keep it on to monitor pressure ? I'd really think that 20 EUR meteo station would do a better job. Or traditional barometer.

Let's not make it like Windows ... next time there will be request for movies to be playable on the deco, customizable mp3 songs for different events and god knows what else. And then it will work beautifully, but won't calculate deco anymore.

Nah, I'd rather have a dive computer.

I agree with you on the some point but adding features for the pleasure is not a the aim of this request. I don't like to take a lot of stuff with me when I travel: right now I have more than enough for my car.

The pressure is already measured in sleep mode to have a real value for athmosphere pressure. There's no need to power the computer to get them and the business of the PIC in dive mode will not be increased.

Logging it would not be a graet problem for the memory: one value every 30 minutes for 24 hours is far enough. This means to log 48 values in memory. That's equivalent to a 8 minutes dive (or even less) in the memory.

I thus beleive this is not a pointless addition and the "price" in termes of memory and CPU business is not very high.

I still belive it would be great.

Weather depends on pressure, but even more on variation over the last hour(s).
Question is: Do you have a simple set of rules to make prediction ?

PS: There is indeed a MP3 played in the OSTC. But no speaker, so...

Thank you very much. I will try to find something. Logging and showing the measurements might be enough in the first time.
