stuck in divemode

Hy Guys,

I have a little problem witk my MK2, I just arrived 2 hours ago from my trip to Thailand and I was carrying my precious MK2 in my handluggage and somehow a button was puched while moving my bag around and now it's doing a 2.1mt dive for more than 4 hours. How can I stop it doing this? I allready tried connecting it to my computer and using a magnet at the back but it doesn't work.
Does anyone have some suggestions?
Dammed air cabin pressure!!

Just a stupid consideration: did you remove the bungee mount before working with the magnet?
Anyway, 2,1 meters depth means 210mb more than the cabin altitude at cruise level which means a descend form a cabin altitude of 2100 mtr... and as usual very fast! yeah,it can be... I don't see a strong connection but try to set the sea reference in the altimeter settings to 780 mb and see what happen.

In my opinion it misses the Thailand sea ;)

There is no connection to the altimeter sea reference. Garenteed. And furthermore, if Maxime is stuck in divemode, he can't play with the altimeter...

Are you sure you USB cable was connected, and powered (the computer has to be running) ?
When passing the magnet behind, the screen should flash white, then the OSTC should reboot.

Yeah, the best would be to take another flight back to Thailand :-)

I guess there is no chance to edit the altitude setting in dive mode and most likely the magnet trick is also not working (not sure about this). As this is a question popping up regularly you should be able to find a solution in one of the previous threads in here. I'd suggest to remove the battery or to let it run out of power...

Yeah that's right, I can't play with the altimeter settings.
Trying to reset it with the magnet is also impossible, tried it dozens of times and the screen is not flashing like it normally does.
Connecting the USB is also unsuccesfull.
So i'm going to wait untill the battery runs out (can take a LONG time because it was fully charged :( ).
I would get out of divemode if i got the pressure lower in u closed pot or something like that but then it would get back in divemode if it got back to room pressure.

Taking it back in the plane to Thailand would be the best thing :D but that's not possible :(.

Who said about the altimeter setting? what a stupid guy! :)

Hi,

Attach usb power and place magnet as sown in the attaches picture. It will reset.

A "flight mode" has been added recently in the beta versions...

regards,
Matthias

Hi,

Thanks Matthias, the combination of both got me out of divemode but now i lost al my Logbook data :(

Yes, overwritten by this pseudo dive...

Hello

I also had this problem in V1.7 in October 2010 during a trip to Egypt. As far as I stepped off the plane was still in the MK2 divemode to 1.6 meters deep. The connection method on a PC + reset with magnet did not work. Ultimately to use the computer, I had to remove and replace the battery. I redid the setup of CF and thus be able to dive.

Matthias, is there a need to overwrite the log data if there is no change in the profile? Wouldn't it be possible to just save changes so you would save memory (and in this particular case a lot of dive logs)?

Logbook is not stored in compressed format (ie. skipping identicital data).
Btw, I guess it won't work, because the sensor is (slightly) noisy, and you would have oscillation of a few mbar forbiding any compression...

JeanDo, but this could be solved somehow.

However, I'm not familiar with this new flight mode (yet), but as this issues pops up from time to time it could also be solved by defining something like a maximun dive time (lets say 24hrs defined by CF78) to avoid these behavior (and data loss).
