Deco stop

Hi All,

I'm new with using the Mk2 (v.1.90).

I did a dive yesterday and was waiting to have some deco - I was curious how it will display.
When it shows that I will have 0' to wait before having some deco, actually it tooks 5' before having 1'/3m displayed.
Then I started to ascend and after a few minutes - displaying 1 or 2'/3m - it suddenly shows 170' no stop - without any other value in between!

Is that normal? I'm a bit confused...

Thanks,
Kris

Maybe during the time the OSTC showed "0" minutes NDL you ascended slowly. This would explain why it took to long before the unit showed a decompression stop.

Your seceond question is easier to explain. During the ascent you'll reach the depth or pressure where the leading tissue starts to desaturate. Although this takes longer at greater depth compared to the time shown on the display decompression starts much ealier (or better deper). Therefore, if you ascend slowly enough you've completed decompression before really reaching the stop depth originall shown. The unit then just shows the NDL. The maximum NDL that it shown is 170 minutes.

In fact, I paid attention not to ascend and stayed in a +/- 1m depth-frame.
For the second point, I had an Uwatec Air X previously and, from what I remember, it showed increasing values once the deco was over, until the maximum NDL.

Thanks for your reply, Peter.

Why dont you try to repeat that dive in the simulator to see what is happening. This might help you understanding.

What decompression model are you using? If you are using GFs what are your settings?

I used to have Uwatec computers as well. If I remember correctly once you've completed your last stop all units went to show the maximum NDL right away. With my Galileo the maximum number was 199 minutes, with the Aladin I believe was 99. I cant remember having seen the NDL numbers to rise.

Hi,

When all stops are done you'll get the max. NDL again. In the depth you finished your last stop you have an infinite NDL.

Matthias

I had an Aladin too (still got it somewhere!)

When you finished the stops it immediately showed the maximum NDL the same as
the OSTC?

I thought it was 199 minutes but age and too much debauchery could be taking their toll...

Don't suppose anyone knows if it is possible to dump data into the log memory of the OSTC?

I see someone has managed to dump data from the logbook memory into a file, wondered if it was possible to do the reverse?

Regards

Hello,

199' is indeed the infinite NDL value for the Aladin.
170' is the one for OSTC.

Best regards,
