CCR bailout mode: bug or feature?

Hello,

I was playing underwater yesterday with my 2N to see how the bailout cave counter was like and I switched the computer to bailout and selected the Nx37 gas (my diluent is air).
I then switched back to CCR mode (SP=1.3) and finished my dive. Air was displayed on the screen (it's the only active gas).
When I looked at the log book the curve had two colors, one for air and one for Nx37 (see profile image).

My question is: why did it remain on Nx37? Bug or feature?

This is not a bug, but the expected behavior.

If you go to bailout Gas#2, then back to Setpoint, the OSTC understand you asked for a change of diluant (needed when you do very deep trimix dives).
Then you should see the setpoint and the new diluant on your screen (Use simulation mode to check that).

Regards,

I'm also using a Shearwater Predator and I find it's way of managing gas more clever: one set for CCR, one set for OC. Going to bailout and selecting gas does not change the diluent.
Who the hell is changing diluent in CCR nowadays? It's useless and can lead to errors.

@ Stephane: Agreed!

Did you like the Bailcounter otherwise? What do you think of the extended functionality we proposed?

I'm a little bit puzzled about the Bailcounter, I thought it was active only in bailout mode (ie start counting when switching to BO mode) but it appears that it's not the case, I see it counting when I'm in CCR mode.
Did I miss something? Or maybe I didn't understand how to use it. :(

Hi,

the feature about bailout gas ist presently the only way to switch diluent with the MK2.
Switch to bailout with the new diluent, switch back to CCR and the used bailout gas is now the diluent gas.
In order to go back to the original diluent gas bail out to any gas and before switching back to CCR switch to the desired diluent gas in OC first.

If i understand the cave bailout counter right it will sum up the OC gas you should have used in OC so you always know how much gas in OC you will need to go back to the entrance.
Nice feature, you alway know how much OC gas you will need in case of a rebreather failure.
You can also set your OC gas quantity and the MK2 will warn you when you exceed that amount of available gas on the way back on OC.
