Feature request...

Is it possible to have a power on splash screen with owner information on it? Some or all of the following may be a good idea.

Owners Name
Personal Contact number
Blood type
Allergies
Medical conditions
Emergency contact person
Emergency contact Number

It doesn't have to be anything flashy, but just a prompt on power on with a few user credentials. I am not thinking this has to be a secured feature (i.e. its not locked down in firmware, so it is just using more of the unused options to present additional information on the splash screen when being woken from sleep for the first time).

Just an idea...

Nice idea but not accessible when you need it most.

You can already put in the name, and the contact number.
The rest - better to have a patch on Your suit (just like uniform patches with velcro), than such info in the computer. Anyway - in case of emergency, no one can use those details anyway to do blood transfer as an example without verification. That's the case in at least majority of European countries.
I prefer having a patch on my dry suit with that info.

I'd prefer to use the memory for the log or future CF's.

My computer already displays my wife's name and mobile number... So they know who to call when they find the body... ;)

Or I can get in the dog's house if I lose it.

Me too.

Adding a page of text (7 lines with 23chars each) costs 161bytes EEPROM (Better to store this in the very small internal EEPROM to make sure it's preserved during firmware updates).

For example, another 32 CF will cost 128bytes. About 500bytes are still left, so no problem to add both. Adding the texts will require the PC-Software makers to add this because of the two-button interface the OSTC has.

Cheers,
Matthias

This won't be a big deal.

Hi

If this will be the only dc to store such data - absolutely nobody will look after this info in the computer. So I would prefer to NOT have this info stored.

You can already add a single line on the display. I put my email adress in it in case there are multiple 2n's on the boat. You could also put the info you want on the net with your own DNS name (short name). Put the DNS name on the current display with JDivelog and youre done.
But in case of an emergency nobody will look at the computer for that kind of data.

I always put that Info in my wallet and give the necessary info to the diveleader. Every cop will search your wallet cause that is where youre drivers license will be and money :(.

Another Idea:
OSTC has a serialnumber. Heinrichsweikamp could add a Page "Lost and Found" to the homepage where a user can add the serialnumber and contactinformation when he has lost his OSTC.

People without knowledge of the ostc will have a look at the manufacturers homepage to get a manual for the computer, so they will find the "Lost and Found" Page and people with knowledge of teh ostc will know about the "Lost and Found" page.

So Heinrichsweikamp, what do you think?

This kind of service has no other manufacturer, as far as i know.

Rob

Not so bad idea, but one should be able to restrict the public information to eMail or to just have shown an contact form which is forwarded to the owner or just be able to be contacted by HW when someone claims to have found the device...
