Emergency ascent

Hi,

Could someone explain how does the OSTC handle emergency ascents ? (i.e. when reaching the surface without doing all/any of your deco stops)
Does it enter into an error mode or does it allow to return into the water in a certain time frame and do your deco with some penalties ?

Thanks in advance,

vincent

AFAIK there is no error mode, you can continue diving afterwards normally (also i wouldn't recommend it depending on what happened to lead to an emergency ascent...)

Alright thanks.
To be more precise, my question should be read as "can the OSTC handle deco stops after a diver surfaced in emergency and went back in the water ?" (not to dive normally, only to do the deco). E.g in the case one has to bring an unconscious buddy to the surface, or get an additional deco tank, or whatever situation that would require this...

Hi,

The OSTC continues to compute deco stops but violating decompression stops means violating the deco model. As a result the displayed deco schedule is no longer correct and (depending on how much deco you skipped) serious injury may occur.
