Wishlist for FW 2.28+

Don't know what other think, but a few things I get annoyed about
* Display in DiveMode: For me it's totally unknown why the label of max.depth is below the data? I think it would be more consistent with having label "Max." above the data. (So in the pic on heinrichs website it would say Max. and then 71.0 below that)
* Simulator, don't know if it's on purpose or just forgotten, but the blink "better gas" doesn't seem to work?!
* Simulator, would it be possible to change the depth-alternators +10m/-10m and instead have a FFW (6x time) and NORMAL Speed.
That would actually allow you to testdrive a dive more close to reality using only the depth-alternators +1/-1. Don't know if it's even possible, but to me that would make more sense than changing depth by 10m in a second (gives nice warnings if you ascend 30m in 3seconds).
* Safety-stop depth interval between 6 and 3m instead of 5-3m as it is in 2.28beta.

@PeJO
Blink Better Gas is still working fine, also the display in divemode looks well as it is.
A simulator with 6x faster time as normal would be fine for the future.

Hi,
The real-time simulator is intentionally very simple. It uses the normal dive mode routines for debugging purposes. I don't think we'll get a ffw mode here in the near future, sorry.

Matthias

Used OSTCTools to flip CF42 again, and now it shows in Simulator mode. maybe there was a hickup during FW upgrade, whatever - so that can be removed.
But another feature that maybe would be nice regarding gaslist;
When the OSTC thinks there are a better gas (and CF 42 is set to ON), wouldn't it be nice when you go to the gaslist (Menu, Gaslist) during DiveMode:
a). The better gas would be inverted (white background, black text - if using standard color) to stick out in the list.
b). The arrow would be at THAT gas. Would save a few unnecessary presses on the menu button and make faster gas switches on the computer.

Just installed 2.28 beta - English version - the right hand button (eventually) shows
BSat: 110%
BDes: 90%
Last: 3m
I get the last stop depth, but what are the other two figures?? My gradient factors are 15/85 so it isn't those, but I thought that this used to say GF_hi and GF_lo??

Your're not in GF deco mode...

CF55: You should change the default by including a minimum of time for gas exchange (as in v-planner), and not a time to be added to the stage. Moreover, it would be limited only within the 30 meters to prevent it will also increase the stages melts in case of gas tmx.
thus serve to improve the oxygen window

Ahhh - yes, you are absolutely correct, thanks very much

@Lorenzo:
CF55 IS a minimun time.
And waiting one minute at depth greater than 30m DO change all the rest of your deco, so I don't understand the second part of your request...
Cheers,

setting a time of 5 minutes in CF55, during the simulation of the dive the generated table is incremented by 5 minutes at each change gases. using a TMX 21/35 for example to change to 57 mt time is 5 minutes. and not good!

I don't clearly understand what Lorzeno wants to tell us. But i can guess that he wants do use CF55 not as an expected time, but as an additional time... For example:
If you calculate a dive, the result might be a stop at 21m for 1 Minute. At 21m you want to switch from bottom to deco gas, for example EAN50. No with CF55 you can set the expected time for the gas switch to 1 Minute. Then OSTC calculates you the rest of the dive like you're doing a stop at 21m for 2 minutes. Right? And if you are faster you'll off to the next stopp and the recalculation will start again... Same when you need more time for the gas switch.
I guess that Lorenzo wants to force the OSTC to add for example 3 Minutes to every gas switch. So if the calculation gives you 1 Minute at 21m, the stop time will be 1+3=4 minutes in Minimum! And you'll not leave this stop before 4 Minutes. If you stay longer, no problem, recalculation of the following stops will be done anyway.
You see the point?
I do most likely the same: I spend at least 5 Minutes @ 21m, regardless if the decoplan tells me 1 or 2 minutes. I will at least breathe for 3 Minutes the new gas, before i'm off to a higher stop.

Another wish regarding the Surface Mode screen,
would it be possible to have the OSTC to remember what info it was showing before going to sleep mode or after a visit in the menus?
So if I would right-button until it shows the Surface Interval as an example, I would like the computer to remember that screen when I wake it up from sleep mode (or going into the menu).
As it is now, it always defaults to a blank screen without the extra info.
(Could be handled via an CF so the choises were: "Default (Blank)" or "Remember Info")

Would it be possible to express a wish that gas blinking was better visible ? I wouldn't mind, if the whole "background" blinked once or twice to preset color, rather than that little piece of text ?

I guess that if you are doing a dive with more than one gas, you're going to plan this dive and you think about the gases you want to use. So you already have a plan on which depth you want to switch to which gas, alright? So "blinking better gas" is a completely useless feature... Therefore it is ok that it is so small... Even better you can switch off this feature.

Sure - it is as useful, as the no-deco safety stop, and yet, it has been implemented. So, what's the problem ? FYI, I do plan my dives, gases, switches and dive runtime, and still find having the computer useful nevertheless.

Sporties don't do the same dive planning like Tekkis. For them it
is helpful to have a reminder for the safety stop. But that's another
discussion...

No problem at all. But then we don't need a flashing background

I think you are a bit inconsistent and picky. If OSTC is a tech unit - we do not need recreational features at all. KISS. If you accept recreational features or some other things (like colored tanks displayed), than you may as well accept other modifications. Anyway - it was just an idea, and a wish. Up to HW to consider it or not.

I do. But as long as i get a "Better Gas" warning during descend, recommending me to use a deco gas, i don't care about this kind of warnings... I will support your idea immediately but therefor this function has to be improved. I like the way my Galileo is asking me about changing the gas. We had this idea already discussed but it was rejected by the majority.

Hi Folks,
Love my OSTC2n, cant see me needing anything more than this.
However, only 1 thing really niggles me...
Can we have the "Exit" option at the TOP of every menu instead of the bottom?
This would save a LOT of button presses after setting gasses etc as sometimes you have to escape through a few menus to get back to the home screen, each one requiring you to scroll to the bottom of it to reach the exit option.
Alternatively, after "Exit" maybe another Option of "Go Home" which closes all menus and goes back to the home screen?
