Battery informations

I don't know if we had this request, but last week after doing three dives in one day i was wondering about the battery status. But there's no such information in dive mode available?

Hey Tinoo,
You would have to explain to me what you would want this information for during the dive!?
You know at the beginning of each dive what the charge is. I would very much doubt that troughout the dive the battery charge diminishes appreciably.
I know of no dive computer that lets you check the battery charge while in dive mode, but of course you could correct me...

Yes of course i did check the status before the dive and it was not 100% anymore. I did not have any chance to charge. The last dive was cold and deep - and i just wanted to check that everything is still ok and that i'm not surprised when "the lights" suddenly go off... At the end it was not a problem.
My "Battery"-Experience in general is, that it takes a while to use power from 100% to 75%, but then it gets quite fast down to 25% and even faster to 0%... So if i can control this progress i'm warned before the lights go off or i can turn back early enough.

Battery charge is not going to drop so suddenly that you will run out of juice from one dive to the other, unless the battery charge is very low.
I've never come even close to discharing my battery.
On a one week trip to the red sea, I did around 13 dives and only had the 2N twice attached to the notebook to download the dives but didn't leave it on to charge.
But for you peace of mind you should then charge the 2N before every dive, though keeping a Li-Io battery constantly at full charge will not exactly extend its life either.
Ohh and I had a bit of a dig around previous entries in this forum:

Ohh and if you want a thread where battery life was discussed specifically, have a look at this:
Storage - Battery / Dive log data
Also have a look here:

Ok i see, nothing to worry about
But still the question remains: Why is no one showing battery informations in dive mode?

Cause it does not really provide an added value, even less than a Safety Stop!
Some dive computers don't even allow you to check the battery status.

Do you think so? I think that the battery is one of the most important parts of a dive computer... But looking to diving related informations it's not important underwater. Except for security and comfort that everything is ok with my OSTC.

@Matthias,
Can you please implement this feature, otherwise we are going to have the same (never ending) discussion as with the safety stop.

Hi,
There already is a "low-batt" warning (during dive mode). It's shown a few hours before black-out. This is enough here...
regards,
Matthias

À few hours, ok, but how many hours ? 3 or 5 hours ?
And at what depth ? 5 or 6 meters ?
Thanks Swissdiving

If we have a CF, one could configure how many hours beforhand the warning appears. Ohh and like Bardass says the depth could be configured too.
Just had an even better idea, the battery warning could be implemented like the ascent warning...
...and if someone comes up with a Head Up Display the warning could be beamed in front of the diver so he/she most certainly doesn't miss it.
BUT,
I agree, now I really am being silly!

What about a new CF for the time before blackout and an other one for the warning color X( !!

I would rather have an Egg clock integrated...

That's something for the "build-your-own" project B)-

The Shearwater gives a readout of the internal battery voltage with a few presses of the right button. If it's also a CCR controller, it can output the solenoid battery voltage too.
