altimeter & temperature bug

Post by trixmix »

my device SN 5699 FW 2.50 has an interesting bug:

After 2 dives in cold conditions (ambient temp -11, water temp +4) on 9 Dec, the device was stored at room temperature. Today, in preparation for some dives, altimeter shows now 1055 mbar and temperature is 77 degrees C. Dive profiles of the last dives are lost. Battery was still half full.

Anyone any idea what this might be all about and how to fix ?

Thanks
Dirk

in the meanwhile, situation has worsened
we are no at 13025 mbar and 98,8 degrees. Soon of a sudden, the device switched to the divemode at took me to 197m on EAN36 >:D<

Have you tried Rebooting the OSTC

Menu > Reset Menu > Reboot OSTC

Any deco data will be lost.
If that doesn't fix it you need to contact HW directly.

Bugger

Did it happen after the FW update?
If yes you may need to re-install the FW.

Or contact HW directly.

Bugger!!

Nope, I did not do anything to the device. It came more or less out of the box, when I took the device into my hands today to verify the gas list.

Anyhow, send a mail to HW already. The bad news is that we will go to Egypt on the 29 Dec .... probably without a working OSTC ... to bad.

Does anyone still have the 2.21 Firmware. I might try to upload to old firmware and upgrade to 2.51 afterwards. Maybe this helps.

Cheers

Sorry mate, can't help you with that. Maybe someone else can help.

Actually did you purchase the OSTC directly from HW?
Else you need to go the the company who sold it to you.

Thats a real bugger!

ok, downgraded to 2.21 and upgraded back to 2.51 - altimeter looks ok now, temperature shows still some stupid 77 degrees

It told me after the re-upgrade its bulding the MD2 hash which seems to be something normal.

Lets see tomorrow, how it behaves under water

Cheers

Dirk,

With OSTC Tools you can reset the temperature. Its a known issue that the temperature can sometimes start to show weird stuff but that does not have a negative impact on the OSTC.

Interesting - now, after 1/2 hours on the charger, it ended again in the divemode showing bullshit

Sounds like you may have a broken pressure sensor. I am quite sure this is not a software issue and you'll have to send your unit to HW. If this will work before your trip to Egypt? I doubt that unfortunately...

might well be, however, I cannot exit the divemode any more. I can update firmware via Jdivelog back and forward but continue ending up in the divemode which shows all kind of bullshit

I suspect what tiefunten says might be correct. Stuffed pressure sensor. Maybe HW can send you one express now and you send yours back as well...

Broken pressure sensor! I had the same... What is the serial number of your OSTC? just wondering...
