Feature Request: Invert buttons
Feature Request: Invert buttons
Hi guys,
I would like to ask for the ability to swap the buttons via a CF (menu turning into set and vice versa). The rationale is as follows. The controller of my ccr is SW product. In that computer most of the menus act in an inverse way as in the Mk2.
I've found that it is hard for me to do the mental swap between one computer and the other when diving deep and being a bit narked. Since getting rid of the SW controller is not yet an option as HW hasn't created a ccr controller I'd like to have the option of swapping the buttons so the operation becomes relatively similar at depth.
To me buying a second SW product is not an option as I absolutely love my mk2 and I believe it's a safety feature having two appliances developed by two different programmers.
Thanks
D

Lefthand and Righthand version. Why not, if that is possible from the hardware?

Re: Feature Request: Invert buttons
You either need to rotate the screen or exchange left and right. There already is a routine to rotate the screen... So maybe this is an easy solution.

Have you asked SW to swap the buttons on the controller?

Re: Feature Request: Invert buttons
Matthias, what do you think about an option to rotate the screen even in divemode? We are comparing our different computers (Suunto, Galileo, Shearwater,...) during the dives. If i wear the OSTC on my right hand and my buddy dives at my right shoulder it's always a task to show the display in a way he can read it. Same Problem if i dive with students and want to show them the informations on my divecomputer...
I know this is an "nice to have" feature and not all of the OSTC Users will profit from it in the same way. But i would and could use it

Re: Feature Request: Invert buttons
You want to press at least three times on a button instead of just moving your arm so your buddy can see the display?
Sorry, but I really don't see such a feature in the underwater menu soon.

Matthias

It's only that easy when you mount the OSTC on your right arm and your buddy is diving on your left shoulder. Then you can hold him the display in front of his/her nose. But as soon as your buddy (or student) is opposite of you the display is upside down for him/her...
@tiefunten: your'e sure you don't want to buy a Cressi? (:P)

@tinoo: absolutely! I am just absolutely against a lot of unnecessary Features like safety stop etc.

Re: Feature Request: Invert buttons
I thought that the OSTC 2N is an experimental dive computer. In my eyes no feature is unnecessary then...

Sure
But not in the release for several thousand OSTC users.

Re: Feature Request: Invert buttons
Matthias, as long as you don't offer a feature, no one will miss it. But as soon as you create one, everyone will at least try and then maybe use it.
Adrain, i'm openminded, i look forward and i have thousands of ideas. I'm to young to stick on status quo and to say "no" to everything new and unknown... At the end it's up to Matthias and his crew to implement what we suggest. So instead of getting personal you'd rather come up with your ideas and visions... :)o

Re: Feature Request: Invert buttons
Quick Q,
Is the ability to flip the screen available in the new beta? couldn't find it in 2.50?

Re: Feature Request: Invert buttons
It's not a cf, but IIRC there was an issue sometime ago and Matthias could fix it easily with a new hexfile. Perhaps you should try to contact him directly!?
