New 2.70 firmware
Hello,
Today, we released the 2.70 stable for the OSTC2 Series (2N/Mk.2/2C). This is not the proposed 3.00 stable but an intermediate release to have a compatible hex file for all hardware versions of the OSTC2 series.
Updating is very easy if you have 1.90 or later (e.g. all 2N users!) and using Windows.
1. Get new bootloader v2: http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/?id=145&version=en
2. Follow the step-by-step instructions: http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/?id=117&version=en
Hallo,
1. Neuen bootloader v2 herunterladen: http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/?id=145&version=de
2. Die einfache Schritt-für-Schritt Anleitung befolgen: http://www.heinrichsweikamp.com/?id=117&version=de

Re: New 2.70 firmware
Thanks for your efforts! Good job once again! (tu)
Just one thing i don't like anymore: The "design" of the menupage title... I liked it more when it was black/white inverted than now it is just in the dive mask color (CF36)...

Thanks for your effort!
I just installed the new firmware. Unfortunately, there is still the bug within the battery menu: Just after installation, I have gut a temperature Tmin=29,8°C (01.01.01) which should be ok, it is quite warm in my room and the date was not yet corrected. But Tmax is saved as 84.8°C (20.07.13) - so neither date nor temperature are realistic ;-(
By the way: I can't find it using the search function of the forum - How can I switch to the alternate GF- setting and is it possible to do so using the simulator? At least at the moment I can't find an option to do so...

First, enable CF69, then during diving (or simulation), press right-button until GF Values are displayed in the custom view. Then Menu -> ToggleGF.

Re: New 2.70 firmware
I installed it and like tiefunten reported, the battery info is meaningless. I will wait and do cycles to see what happens, but currently my OSTC says "0 cycles" and fantastic temperatures even though I estimate maybe 10 lifetime cycles.
I also have the subjective feeling that the simulator is slower than before.

You know you can set the temperature value to a lower value using the OSTCTools.
Otherwise you have that maximum forever.

Thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately I already tried that and it didn't work in the simulator. That's why I was asking - maybe it only works in Divemode? But I can't see GF Values in the custom view area, only on the left side during ascent...
@Rob: Yes, I know how to change that but will not do so until this bug is fixed.

Re: New 2.70 firmware
Hi tiefunten
You will find the "ToggleGF" option in divemode & simulator - just make sure that you switch the CustomView (bottom right) until the GF Values are shown! Then press left and enter and choose the ToggleGF Option... As long as you are on "Avr. Depth" or "Time" (or something else) the option ToggleGF will not appear!
Just an Information: My battery info is in a good shape... no strang things this time!

Recharge computer until it's full. The battery info will then be updated.

Re: New 2.70 firmware
Hello @all,
first I want to say Thank you for the new Firmware! Many interesting new features.
I have a starnge behavior regarding the Default gases. All gases are now 21/0 with different change values.
I want to change this with the OSTC Tools but it will not work. The tool crashed and could not upload the new Default Gas settings.
I think the reason therefore is that some new CFIII functions are generatet in the Firmware and not in the OSTC Tool.
Is there another chance to configure the default gas settings?
Thank you

Hi Bobo
My Gas Setup is still the same like before the update... Why don't you use the Gas Setup inside your OSTC? It's not that comfortable but for sure it works

I will check that this evening!
If you are using the latest version of OSTCTools (0.8.2)
it has nothing to do with the number of CFs, OSTCTools can handle this.

Re: New 2.70 firmware
I've just installed Linux on my laptop, does anyone know if there is a Linux version of bootloader? It's set up as dual boot so I can still use Windows but my aim is to migrate fully to Linux.
Re: New 2.70 firmware
I can't display the GF in the Custom View area. Maybe that's why I can't switch to alternate GF!? The following views can be displayed: Stopwatch, Time, Average Depth, Saturation Graphics, EAD/END, Future TTS.
What am I doing wrong?

Check CF69 (Allow GF change).

Re: New 2.70 firmware
I already checked that in the beginning, as "reivilos" wrote that! It was set to on.
But I played around a little and realized, that this setting was somehow "stucked": all other settings were switchable with the arrow pointing on the "Current" value, pressing the right button then. At CF 69, this was not possible (nothing changed when I was pressing the right button), but pressing the button when the arrow was pointing on the "default" value, the "current" value switched to "off". After that, it could be switched when the arrow was pointing on the current value (the same as with all other CF...)again and I can use the alternate GF-Option now
@Mathias: Thank you for the info on the battery-information. After a full charge, everything seems to be ok now!

I'm working with HW to add support for firmware updates to the libdivecomputer library. But that got postponed due to the introduction of the ostc3. I hope to resume the firmware updating work again very soon.

I am also a Linux only guy
. You can also install JDiveLog and use it to upgrade the firmware. That's the way I upgraded yesterday, it worked like a charm…

this has nothing to do with OSTCTools,
you can set the values to a realistic value.
After updating the firmware on my ostc, i had the same problem.
Maybe the new area for diluent gasses is not initialized with proper values and so you have to set some realistic values after the firmware update.
Edit: tested with the german firmware.
OSTCTools Version 0.8.2 (BETA8).

When I use the bootloader I receive an error;
Warning: piccodes.ini not found.
Connected to \\.\COM7 at 115200
Searching for PIC ..., unknown pic type: 57h
ERROR!
Not quite sure what to do now? I have V2.50 installed.
I have sorted it out. It was a user interface problem! :S

Cool, I'll download that and give it a go. Is JDiveLog pretty easy to install on Linux? It's a whole new world to me moving away from simple click to install!!
