I bought my Frog this spring. It was my first diving computer. After long research, it seemed it was the best model for me, Learning to get my lvl 2.
Last days, i came here to see if there was an update for it. And what did I learn ? the model is abandoned.
That's a bad news. It means there will be no more update neither for my device. no for frog companion software. How can people trust you with such conduct ??
That will be the last model from your brand I buy for sure.
I don't thank you...

Surely if it works there's no need to get updates?

Re: Frog abandonned...
Unfortunatly there is no reference to the Frog on the HW Website anymore...

Or at least I can't find one.

It's NOT because they are not working well! OSTC 2 is a different computer, with different needs, different possibilities and last but not least a different audience of users.

And also the OSTC is a current model. I've never know a manufacturer to a) have a given product as current forever and b) keep providing updates to discontinued products.
If they discontinued the OSTC tomorrow and stopped doing updates it would be a shame but would hardly render my computer useless.

Re: Frog abandonned...
The big difference between OSTC and Frog is that the first one is open source. Even if they discontinue it, some skilled people might be able to release a firmware. Frog was not open source therefore the upgrade options were limited only to the manufacturer.
I don't think it is necessarily a question of target audience (althought it pushes customer service to be more reactive or proactive). Some non-tek computers from other brands gets updates as long as they are manufactured. Whenever the OSTC will substantially change from previous versions, like everything, official updates are likely to end at some point. I might be wrong but it doesn't seem to me that the OSTC mk1 still gets update

Re: Frog abandonned...
Well a few years back everyone had a Aladin of some sort and it wasn't upgradable (if that's a word) and people used them for years and years because they worked.
One of my buddy also has a frog and it's perfect for what he does and he's very happy about it. Why change something that works perfectly for your kind of diving ?
