OSTC Sport connection problem

Post by daniele2101 »

good evening,
I have tried to connect for the first time with my Macbook pro, but I can't succeed in establishing the bluetooth connection:
is it possible that the problem is the actual installed alkaline 1,3 volt battery? Is it necessary the lithium battery?
(software HW Companion just installed)
thanks and my best regards.

I've seen problems when running the computer of half-rundown alkaline batteries.

I have even seen the backlight dim when doing bt communications, so there is a significant current draw from the bt module. That in combination with a crappy alkaline battery thats half rundown and starting to build up internal resistance, i've seen communication failures show up.

The computer with bt works just fine on fresh, crappy alkaline, but i wouldn't dive them.

Use quality 1.5 or 3.6 batteries and the computer works just fine.

Yea.

I saw a OSTC3 "die" during a dive due to using a crappy alkaline which couldn't deliver current when getting cold.

Alkaline batteries are like beta firmware. Use them and play with them when your "diving" from your couch, but stay away from them when doing "real" diving.
