Post by divejy »

Hi,

My OSTC Sport after some time using, the sensitivity of both buttons totally different.

The left button (select) has to be press few times to take next step however the right button can action on every press.

Does anyone have same issue and how to fix it?

Thanks

Hi,

You can easily check and replace the buttons by yourself. What you can try is remove the backplate and flip the button by 180° (All of this has no impact on the sealing of the unit). If this does not help, please email us directly: info@heinrichsweikamp.com and we'll ship you a new button asap.

Hi Divejy,

I have one of the original OSTC3s. What I have found is that the magnetic core within the switch plunger is corroding and the sealing plug gets pushed out. This seems to cause the switch function to go slow. So one side of yours may have failed.

Take out the switch plungers and look into the end the spring bears on. You should see a bright yellow plug. If not and there is a lot of dark coloured powder in there then the ferrite is corroding.

I have sent Matthias a photo of my failed ones and we will see what he says.

Hi Divejy,

Matthias sent me some new switch buttons which are simple to install once you get the hang of the small pins that secure them. Once fitted all hesitation and need to push more than once has gone.

Interestingly the new buttons seem to have a clear sealant over the magnetic core which I do not remember seeing on the originals but that may be me just not looking hard enough.

I have asked Matthias to put new buttons on the website shop as consumables then I'll get some and carry them with me like I did with with my VR3.

Glad to hear you are fixed as well.
