Battery consumption on OSTC 3+

Post by dadefay »

Hello,

While diving this afternoon, I noticed a low battery alarm (10%). The compas was displayed; I changed for a different screen and a few tens of seconds later the alarm was gone and battery indicator reached 50%.

Does the compas have heavy impact on the battery level ? I precise the water temperature was 19°C.

Best regards.

What kind of battery was inserted?

The compass needs some extra current but not much. Less then a 1mA, which is ~3% to 5% extra current in normal lighting conditions.

I always use the same type of battery: Saft LS14500EX. The battery was perhaps close to its cut-off voltage ? But I thought the battery level displayed by the OSTC was based on consumption accumulation, not on voltage level.

After that I changed the battery. Desat, Int and Last Dive information were right, but Durée T. and Prof Max. were reset to 0. Is that normal ?

Kind regards.

Hi,

There are four voltage-dependent extra levels which overwrite the accumulated charge method: 75% at 3000mV, 50% at 2900mV, 25% at 2600mV and 10% at 2500mV. These are based on a 70mA load which is quite high and assumes much LCD backlight current.

Yes, it's normal that the "Last Dive" Settings are reset. They do not gather their information from the internal logbook but are simple counters initialised on real dives.
