Extra Deco Time
Extra Deco Time
I've just got an OSTC as a backup to my Inspiration Vision & did the first dive today. It was just a 40 minute cruise round at 25m before the winds blow up and forced us back to harbour!
Anyway, I have the Vision set at 15/85 GF, but left the OSTC at 30/90 GF for now, just really to see what difference it really makes. As you would expect on a shallow dive; for nearly all the dive they tracked each other within 1 minute no-stop time both finishing at 21 minutes no-stop time as we left the bottom. Then they started to disagree...........
Coming back up the line, as I got back to around 15m, the Vision was working it's way back up to 999 minutes no-stop time as normal. The OSTC went completely the other way & quickly worked it's way up to 9 minutes stops at 6m (which I obviously didn't do!). I obviously got the error warnings, but no issue as we weren't doing a second dive.
It's unit No.160 running firmare 1.40.
Any clues/advice?

Re: Extra Deco Time
Hi Dave,
Did you use fixed-SP deco (and at which SP) or do you use the monitoring function?

Matthias

Re: Extra Deco Time
Can you post the profile here? Maybe a Logbook file. When we can reproduce this we'll see if this is a bug or just a different behavior (Lead tissue change, for example).

Hi Matthias
Here's the JDivelog log. As you can see, a very gentle dive............

Re: Extra Deco Time
Hi Matthias
A bit more information - maybe relevant, maybe not......
I ran the profile through simulation using both JDivelog and Divelog 4.0 - both simulations ran as normal; giving back the max no-stop time on ascent. Even though you can clearly see from the Logbook profile the unecessary deco obligation on the actual dive.
However, at the end of both simulations, when I told it to stop, the OSTC went to 94 meters! This 94m excursion has now been added to the end of the original profile in the logbook on the OSTC - is this a "feature" or a bug?

Re: Extra Deco Time
Hi,
in order to prevent this 94 meter thing you have to surface the OSTC at the end of the simulation and then let it switch of by itself.
When you stop the simulated dive with the interface-software there's a discret generated sending the OSTC to 94 meter.
This is kind of a bug but a minor one only happening when you stop a simulation before the OSTC switches off by itself.

Re: Extra Deco Time
Thanks Reiner
I'll remember to watch out for that when running simulations.

Re: Extra Deco Time
Hello,
About simulation, we'll post a new 1.45beta later today which finally has the new internal simulator ready. This 94m thing is something we should change, too.

Matthias

Re: Extra Deco Time
Hi
Any more info on this extra deco incident?
There seems to be a few posts now where people have experienced the OSTC adding much more deco than was necessary.
